I'm remembering now where I got the impression this O's FO is reluctant to move big prospects, it was from the Cespedes BBQ boys, who I would be inclined to trust on that.

Me too but it's a far drop in "excitement" when compared to JV

Hopefully Brooks Lee. He started the season in AA and has been raking all year, I'm a little shocked they haven't moved him up yet tbh. I'm not sure if anyone else will be a standout at that point. Maybe one of the corner outfielders that they keep shuffling back and forth between the bigs (Larnach, Wallner) and there's always the chance to see someone on a rehab assignment.

Get a Snuffy's Malt for sure.

Pirates get 3 minor leaguers back headlined by Jackson Wolf, a 6'7 soft tossing lefty who... relies on deception and unusual arm angles to get batters out?! Nice, we traded 43 year old Rich Hill for 24 year old Rich Hill!

JUST PICK ONE. ANY ONE.

Teo's an FA after this year that the team isn't likely to re-sign in general with his pretty poor performance this year so getting value out of him is good. He's better but it's been similar to last year's Jesse Winker trade. France is a sadder story where he has lost his ability to hit to all fields over the past few months and is now just a bad groundball hitting 1B. There's upside for teams hoping he magically regains his professional hitting ability he had but he's kinda done. So, again, good to get value while there may be some perceived value there. At the very least, France is a superstar at getting hit by pitches. Also, we got Canzone and Mike Ford to replace him.

Didn't they trade a few guys away yesterday? Seemed apparent to me they were, unless they have guys in the org ready to step into those spots.

They traded their closer. I guess if you look at it as trading away guys who have underperformed and you hope their replacements will be better than its pretty shrewd moves.

Yeah, I see all these trades from the Mariners as trades they should be making, both short-term and long-term. They still have a decent pen without Sewald, and the replacements for Teo/France aren't going to be significantly worse than how they've performed this year.

I think most fans interpreted them trading away their closer as the canary in the coalmine.
These are the kind of short term veteran players you trade when you don't expect to win this season, rather than some sort of rebuild, at least.
