For the money, OP should've bought an E63 AMG wagon or RS6 Avant or something slightly less hostile to humans.

Buying a 5 passenger wagon to haul around a family of 6 surely would be a choice.

Years ago we looked at a Metris and that poo poo was super nice. In hindsight it was dumb that we were even looking but in the moment the real reason we elected not to get it: The rear windows didn't roll down :v:

Instead we ended up in the situation where we have two Land Cruisers 24~ years apart and on opposite ends of what 'Land Cruiser' means to people. A big lump of a 200 series which we love because it's a big comfortable never-die lump, and the 94 Prado which is a 4cyl turbo diesel manual transmission 2 door. It's just my wife and I, we don't commute and absolutely do not need the capability but whatever we're a part of the problem :toot:

The Vsport needed new tires, and a set of TE37 knock offs wasn't materially more expensive than the tires themselves. Not gonna track this car where they might explode under hard cornering or something, so figured why not

Slightly wider rim and tire fills out a little better than stock

Added bonus of me trying out my new phone camera at night. Camera is great, me not so much

Only problem is, now I need to swap in Camaro rear brakes because the stock setup looks comically small now that you can actually see it.

Also, dusted off the Grand Marquis and took it to the drive-in for some maximum nostalgia

Yeah I was wondering about the V-class for OP's discussion in the car buying thread. Obviously they're good for the accommodation but just so horrible as cars. You'd have to avoid looking directly at it when you're getting in.

The Bimmer X7 has a 6 seat option and looks cheaper than a Grand Wagoneer, I'd get that in a heartbeat.

Picked up the car yesterday, obviously it had to start pissing it down and then I got stuck in rush hour traffic.

But aside from that it's a pretty nice place to be, it does feel like theres a bit of slack in the drivetrain. So I think swapping the engine/trans/diff mounts for the trd/sti ones is going to be something that gets done sooner rather than later.

Although really the first thing to do is get a set of track wheels and then figure out what brake setup to go with.

I've definitely been spoiled for wheel choice with the mr2 as with 5x114 and shared similar offsets to FD/S-chassis

5x100 at least has a lot of wheels marked for imprezas but the offsets seem to be really high like +48 and +45 seem really common. I'd like 17's ideally but if I can get a light set of 18's that would be fine too as there seem to be more choice in 18. I'm going to probably just go with cup2's to start out with as a track tyre in 225/45ZR17 as there doesn't seem to be much point in going wider as is.

O hai v-sport buddy.

I'm rather fond of the stock wheels on mine but I wanted to get an extra set for winter wheels and they're both unobtainium and expensive as hell.

Aside from being in desperate need of tints, thing is in amazing condition. Only blemish is previous owner parked by ramming his wheels into poo poo, all 4 are curbed to hell but I'll likely use these for winters and get something more interesting for summers by next year

Q5 worked fine for us for a few years now, and when I wasn't working and wife was work from home 90% of the time, it was ideal. Her role has changed and is now going to client sites a few times a week and turns out truck is just fine for truck stuff but absolutely blows for a normal commute. Another goon has them, and I strongly considered buying them. However, they apparently don't wear well, are flimsy, and just screw into the plastic or composite buttress and eventually strip out.

I haven't had any issues with this car yet, but the one time I washed my old Miata some water got down in the plug well and fouled the coil pack somehow. Prolly a thing if it rains frequently, to be fair.
