I just read an article about a pharmaceutical company working on a STEM cell cocktail that will be injected into the spinal fluid of recently deceased people to test if dead bodies can be revived (targeted electrical pulses may also be involved iirc). Just another thing to think about.

Speaking of China.
China seems to be who everyone thinks are the backers for this company buying up the land on 3 sides (so far) of Travis AFB.

"The group Flannery Associates LLC has acquired 55,000 acres of dry farmland in Solano County - including parcels that surround three sides of one of the most critical military bases in the western U.S.
The mysterious purchases started in 2018 and continue in 2023 - amounting to around $800 million."

They have even gone so far as to try suing the people that wont sell to them.
They also seem to be buying up land alongside the grid system.

Buying up worthless real estate in a low lying delta ghost town to peek over a fence? not on our watch!

Buying up scarce urban housing and sitting on it as an investment while renters suffer endlessly? Nothing we can do about it.

The WSJ did an article about this on the 7th.
https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/in...ey-are-fd868e38

"In a recent federal court filing, Flannery Associates said it is a wholly owned subsidiary of Flannery Holdings, a limited liability company registered in Delaware. LLCs registered in Delaware don’t have to publicly disclose the identity of their owners.
Use of LLCs to purchase land is a common practice. Nearly one in five homes were purchased by investors in early 2023, including LLCs and other corporate entities, according to data compiled by real-estate firm Redfin of more than 40 of the largest U.S. metro areas. "

Still seems sketchy that someone is buying up land near an AFB and paying far more than its worth.
AFBs tend to be in places that are pretty much worthless for other things.

"Flannery’s holdings near Travis raised concerns similar to those sparked by a Chinese-owned company’s plan to develop land 12 miles from the Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota. The plan was halted after the Air Force said it posed a national security risk, and lawmakers have continued to introduce bipartisan legislation restricting foreign ownership of U.S. farmland or increasing transparency around these acquisitions.
The Chinese company’s U.S. arm said at the time the planned facility wouldn’t be used to spy on the U.S.
Flannery told USDA in June that it didn’t need to register its holdings in Solano County because no foreign person “holds any significant interest or substantial control” of Flannery, according to a letter provided by the group’s attorneys."

Honestly this sort of thing should be encouraged at all levels of government. Cable news owns too much of the conversation, we should be televising actual conversations like this on a regular basis, at least quarterly

Direct, live debate between politicians ought to be the norm, not the exception

Yeah, so if it isn't going to fix the system, at least make it entertaining. Like make them go through an obstacle course like American Gladiator or Ninja Warrior. Maybe something like that Legends of the Hidden Temple show that used to be on Nickelodeon.

They solve nothing, but they have destroyed more than one political campaign. Sarah Palin, Nixon 1, Admiral Stockdale, and others I can't even remember. I don't think Dan Quayle did himself any good, but he was already destroyed.

Big name televised politician debates are only useful imo when you have a wildcard in there. Sanders being part of the debates in 2016 singlehandedly made "socialism" a usable word again in this country basically overnight, and I think we can attribute a respectable quantity of the growing resistance to capitalism in the US to the fact that we can finally collect those critiques under the umbrella of a concrete, alternate system whose verbiage once again has valence in this godforsaken hellhole nation.

I kinda wanted to attend the planning meeting they were all there to disrupt and then when my turn came to speak I'd point out that all the people complaining about SB 10 were obviously affluent enough to spend a workday at a loving planning commission meeting while all the people who would benefit from SB 10 were too busy doing their jobs to attend, but I was one of those unfortunates who had a job to go to.

I just don't see Newsom ever playing on a national stage. He's the textbook decadent elite coastal liberal in the eyes of middle America; talk to purplish union workers in Wisconsin or Michigan and if they know of him it'll be about how he locked everybody down, eats at fancy restaurants and turned San Francisco gay. He likely caps out at a Senator or major cabinet position, maybe VP but I doubt anybody would be strategically inclined to pick him. The only way I feel like Newsom actually gets the nomination is if the dems pulled another 2020 and most all other viable candidates drop out and rally around him, and again I feel like this would just be the equivalent of handing the rust belt to the GOP.
