cEvin Key dropping another Brap & Forth soon. If you're into analog synth jams and stoner bleepity bloop noise this is probably worth checking out.

Daniel Myer announced some tour dates for all of his non-Haujobb projects. I have no idea the rhyme or reason but if you are on the West Coast, Texas or the South you might get Liebknecht, Architect or DSTR depending on the date.

I really ike most of his DSTR stuff, especially the covers. Architect is fine but not really my thing and Liebknecht is pretty cool. Now where is that Haujobb album he said they were working on back in like 2020.

Leaether Strip also added some dates for next year in the US so a few guys who don't do a lot of US dates will be around a little bit.

I'll probably pick this up but I'm kinda interested in a proper Back And Forth with post 1996 SP outtakes and maybe some of the juicier Patreon stuff. It blew my mind there he threw up a lost Too Dark Park song on his Patreon that feels 95% done other than having no vocals, and hardly anyone has gotten to
hear it. It's 100% the same vibe as the rest of the tracks on the album and not one of those cases where it feels like labeling it SP/Doubting Thomas/cEvin Key etc feels arbitrary.

I honestly wonder if there were any post '96 outtakes. I don't know if the recording processes for the post-reunion albums were anywhere near as organic as they were for the golden years. My completely uninformed head canon says that Key just made beats and synth hook structures and sent them to Ogre. Ogre then just figures out what works with the stuff he's been writing. Anything that meets the intersection of the Venn Diagram becomes a Puppy track. Anything that does not gets shuffled off to platEAU, Download, or Ogre's other band. Mmmmaybe they have a few b-sides and unreleased Puppy things kicking around, but I bet they save all that for a final Back and Forth after they finish the farewells.

There was at least one, an instrumental track cut from GWOTR called 'Elements'. But yeah, that's basically how their recording process worked. A bunch of potential tracks getting sent over to Ogre and Mark Walk and they pick 10-12 and those end up as the album, eventually.

One thing that's going to irritate me forever is that apparently there was another track with vocals that was going be on B+F6 but someone got to hear it early and posted an extremely negative review online and said it made them lose respect for Ogre as a vocalist or something super dramatic like that and it got cut. I don't know if there was a version of Subskull with vocals or whether it was something else entirely.

At least for some of it, Cevin would record some synth stems, Ogre & Mark would record some vocal tracks and maybe a few more instrumental tracks, maybe Cevin would very roughly cobble something together, then it got sent to Ken Marshall and he turned it into a song.

I don’t know how much they relied on Rave back in the day to create the actual songs (“producers” have probably always had tons of power), but for better or worse they seemed to have offloaded an awful amount of the actual songwriting to hiwatt in the modern days. Ken has a bunch of YT videos showing his process and it’s kinda shocking how rough some of the stuff he got was and how much he ended up doing. He was basically a member of the band.

from looking around there may be another batch of these coming in October.

A review of "The Merciless Light" on idieyoudie.com referenced "Watts' frequently overlooked talent as an arranger", and a relisten to that album in headphones really drove it home. There's all kinds of really cool stereo fuckery going on there.

Yeah, I felt a little disappointed in the last PIG album (from earlier this year?) and most of the recent KMFDM albums. However, this is pleasently surprising! I had the fortune of seeing the 2002 KMFDM Sturm & Drang tour feating PIG. Honestly it was truly one of the best industrial shows I've ever seen. So in an unfare manor, all KMFDM and PIG releases fall short of living up to that experience. Thanks for sharing!

I am confusing my tour lineages; were Atkins & Ohgr also at this show?

I saw KMFDM back to back years at the Waterstreet Music Hall in Rochester on Halloween, once backed by TKK (who were pretty depressing to watch by that point). The shows were both good but I remember that KMFDM was much better with Watts, and also that whichever show had Pigface as an opener was absolutely loving insane and Atkins played in a literal cage with his back to the audience which seemed very :discourse: based on his reputation. I think Nivek was at that show too but it's a jumble of weed and loud square waves.

edit: unless Pigface opened for oHgr around that same era, and I totally confused? No loving idea tbqh

Completely disagree, I’ve been totally unable to get it out of my head. It’s got dirt and menace and they finally got the melodic choruses right after not being able to write one to save their lives for over a decade. Best OOMPH! track in over ten years, maybe more
