Same here, except my "not played yet" pile takes up two milk crates. I make it a point to listen to a new album every day, but it's been more digital lately on account of my backup turntable (i.e. the one I use more) being on the fritz.

In other news, I'm in South Carolina for a family reunion, went to a Goodwill, and found an old meme:

got my deluxe edition of the new blur record last night

(it's the regular album in grey and black splatter with a two-track 7" and a poster of the album art)

and it got pretty thrashed in transit, the sleeve is extremely krinkled and the LP is salad-bowling, but it plays okay

still kind of annoyed

also since i bought another blur record a few nights ago (the new-ish vinyl pressing of bustin' and dronin') and when the clerk asked me my opinion of the new one, i had to say i hadn't heard it yet, since i was waiting on the deluxe edition, which was shipping late

Keep it up, you want a replacement. If they can't get one, maybe look up what one would cost on discogs and tell them they can refund you that amount?

WMG does seem to be living up to the shittiness of the rest of modern Warner Discovery. Have they really taken a week to respond to you?

Four days. It took me a minute to have the spare time to do some photos and send the email.

There's no copies of the NA smoke pressing + 7" on discogs, the EU smoke pressing + 7" is going for $50+...which I think is actually less than I paid for it, because I am a fool.

Buy that now and take the full refund maybe? The EU pressing isn't region locked.

Yeah, I've found especially for double lps or live albums or stuff that is particularly long, I'm not spinning them as often just because switching every 11-12 minutes is arduous

and I've also had to migrate my collection downstairs since my kitty found out he can get immediately attention by clawing at it so...

I think CDs are going to make a bit of a comeback in my life, especially for poo poo that is impossibly expensive on vinyl or that never got pressed at all

There’s a lot of jazz from Japan that should get vinyl reissues because of the time they came out. I’m specifically mad about Hiromi’s Spiral. It wants to be on a turntable.

With my CDs I like to get a high quality rip of them and then keep the original in a plastic sleeve for the shelf. That way I can keep the obi on it and know it's in good shape if my hard drive crashes or something

Found another Kevin Eubanks and this Mystic Merlin record which apparently did not get a very large pressing.

There was another DeBarge album in the bins but I didn't like the songs as much:

What I do need is a 5 boroughs-style shirt that says James, Bunny, Eldra, Mark, & Randy

Also I'd had my eye out for the Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose record for a while because it has the hot 60's bangers "Treat her like a lady" and "Too late to turn back now"

I believe her first 2 releases are old enough that they are vinyl, I really like either the first or second one I can’t remember, so that’s on my list. I love Spiral though.

Weirdly our car, which is a 2020, has one. Later year models probably got rid of it. We recently have been buying a CD here and there and I’ve joked-but-not that we need a visor CD holder.

Related enough, we decided to find a vcr and bought some random movies.

I’ve seen that version of The Odyssey probably like four times because I took Latin in junior high and high school and anytime the teacher was out that was what the sub played.

My haul from the local record show yesterday. The Danzig is an 'unofficial copy' (ie bootleg) and I'm fine with it because it was $40 and the cheapest legit copy on discogs is $350. Sounds alright though you can kind of tell it was made from a digital source. Kind of makes me wonder how 'unofficial' copies like this are even made. CDs and tapes it's easy to make a copy, but vinyl?

I kinda figured modern day bootlegs are cut rather than pressed

like my pepto-pink copy of bone machine sounds absolutely like someone put an EQ on it that clipped the high and low end... but that'd make sense if it was just a really shallow cut copy of some digital files I guess
