The very second the official word came in that he committed suicide, every "reputable" news source ran a story on it and promptly stopped covering him or anything related to him. gently caress, despite the mountain of actual evidence presented at his loving trial, the concept that there are elites trafficking children is still a conspiracy theory. this is why doing it “by the book” is really the only way for disclosure to happen. relatedly I think it’s the only way for an “ontological shock” to happen. institutions that control discourse have to be on board, and because there is a power hierarchy at work there, the change has to come from the top. also why just going wild card and releasing the high-res evidence we all naturally want before that institutional shift would be self-sabotaging to the overall goal. I enjoyed it well enough, especially the start, but it suffered from the same problem a lot of sci-fi mystery shows have, which is that the solution to the central mystery is far less interesting than the mystery itself.

papersack posted:Anything new on LK-99? Still have folks replicating/validating it. Several individuals have replicated the material and observed magnetic levitation. Only one (the lab in China) has released a resistivity test which show superconductivity at 110K. However their sample did not show Meissner effect and their results don’t look “normal” and include what looks like a measurement error. It’s difficult to measure that with impure samples where only some of the material is LK-99. Jury is still out basically, but whatever this is, it is definitely a superconductor of some kind.

It does seem to be unique enough that even if it ends up not being room temperature it may open the way to find one based on the novel way it works.

superconductor? more like subparconductor

Maybe it's only a room temp superconductor if the testers believe it's a room temp superconductor

They’re mad about how defense contractors are in control of our military.

Bilirubin posted:lol a lawyer did not write that https://twitter.com/BradVoorhees/status/1687303189073137664?s=20 quote:There's actually a really strong physics argument for aliens though. It's in The Real Prime Directive--there's a law in physics called "the stationary action principle" it's pretty much that the action is minimized, which just means energy does exactly what physics says it will, water always flows downhill, projectiles move in parabolas...and your matter is energy, and dna is in your matter, so your DNA is in your energy and that is a fact. So that means that because the law of conservation of mass energy, your dna has been in the universe from the very beginning of time and that too is a fact, and that means that because your energy follows the stationary action principle, and that's based on the conditions in the environment, then in any sufficiently earthlike environment, human beings will evolve and that too is a fact. Since our planet is 4.6Byo, and it took from 0 to 4.54By to evolve up to prehistoric dinosaurs with almost no mammals except for maybe a rat, up till then, but got a reset from a meteor strike yesterday (in cosmic time), and now 0.06By later the planet has humans with nukes. So in a 14.5Byo universe where we got a planetary reset yesterday, Earth can only be an exoplanet colony of a interstellar human species, which explains the missing link (the only species on earth who have RH+/- blood with no evolutionary trace in between are the chimp and the human with no evolutionary trace in between. So that means that humans are a colony of this interstellar species who were placed here after the dinosaurs were wiped out with a meteor (terraforming) and we were placed here in violation of The Real Prime Directive, which is a treaty between interstellar apes and interstellar dinosaurs where we promised eachother that we won't meddle in evolution and we'll leave planets alone until they achieve a certain level of development before they're invited to join the Real Federation of Planets. Yep. Star Trek is real. legit. But we know aliens are real because the energy of our matter means that in any sufficiently earth-like environment humans are inevitable and we know that because we are here and energy always follows physics, so in any sufficiently earth-like environment humans will evolve there too and that is a fact. And if it only takes time for humans to become interstellar, then in a 14Byo universe, there are humans of billions of years of evolution and they are the ones who put us here on earth and that is probably a fact... maybe...probably....I'm pretty sure.

Now, scientists at NASA and Osaka University in Japan are upping the estimate to trillions. Detailed in two papers accepted for publication in The Astronomical Journal, the researchers have deduced that these planets are six times more abundant than worlds orbiting their own suns, and they identified the second Earth-size free floater ever detected. looks like nibiru is back on the menu boys e: I guess these things are mostly earth sized, instead of dark jupiters like previously hypothesized, which is pretty cool
