Lots of fun stuff, though the paperbacks are set in tiny fonts if you need specs for reading. Not sure if there's ebook versions out yet, it was print-only when I bough them.

Man, the death business is such a swindle. Aye, we're going to chuck your body in the furnace, that'll be £1,500 please. Fucksake.

I think the cheapest I've found is £160 for what basically looks like a cardboard box your fridge freezer came in. Although apparently you can also have them buried in a shroud, which I'm sure the funeral director will try to find a way to have the shroud cost £8,000 despite it basically being a linen blanket.

The furnace is private property, and it runs on fossil fuels, it is the perfect emblem of our doom

They sell them as PDFs through a very wonky storefront which means they are absolutely shite for trying to read on an e-reader and just about palatable on a tablet.

They already have human compost actually, they literally pile stuff around you then stick you in a box to turn into mulch over the course of a while then put you in a big heap in the forest.

Sounds quite nice really.

Just put me out with the bins and tape a tenner to me for their trouble.

at the most basic level leaving human remains lying around is basically super-littering and somebody needs to do the cleanup

what I'm saying is 1) bring back paupers' mass graves and 2) pay the dustmen's union a living wage and then some

If there is anything I have learned in my travels across the Planes, it is that many things may change the nature of a man. Whether regret, or love, or revenge or fear - whatever you believe can change the nature of a man, can.

Am I remembering that the govt made burials at sea a bit easier to arrange in the last few years?
I think there were also moves to do the same for sky burials, too.

Or maybe the other way around. Sky burials are probably more environmentally friendly

sky burials are pretty cool. they are also space inefficient and, in bulk, are probably unsanitary

there are better ways to feed the scavenger birds that will inherit Britain, and there are better ways to turn corpses into nutritious paste compost

Very apt timing for this topic, as I’ve been rewriting my will and letter of last wishes over the past few days.

It’s a weird feeling planning your own future funeral, but I’ve been having some fun with it. When I die my entire posh family will be forced to sing the Internationale and then get high and drunk in my memory. Oh, and I’m getting buried with my handmade broadsword and my dice box and dice. Partly so I’m ready to meet either friends or enemies should there turn out to be an afterlife, but mostly because I really want to confuse future archeologists.
