Very cool. Interesting to listen to those songs and realize how much they've unconsciously lodged themselves into my brain.

Some of these titles are pretty funny in context. Bunch of Clowns is especially :discourse:

I wonder if that silly tune from the mimic Alex task in there? Edit: Literally titled Copy Alex

These are (almost?) all from the Horne Section, right?

No, they did the main theme and I'd assume some variations, but Dru Masters did most of the background music, he was on the podcast a while ago.

He sent me those task tracks off the back of a Twitter interaction in a Google drive. Great chap.

Edit: didn't think of uploading them anywhere though!

Sometimes I'm thumbing through a soundtrack trying to find the "mischief" theme. So kudos to Taskmaster for having a soundtrack that's 80% mischief themes to make my job easy.

What are some good podcasts by Taskmaster contestants?

I’m going on a long flight so I’m downloading a bunch of new stuff. I’ve listened to a little of Lou Sanders’ Cuddle Club, a little Horne Section, and I have a few episodes downloaded of Romesh’s hip hop show and Turning the Tables with James Acaster and Josh Widdicombe.

Seems like lots of them have had multiple shows so I don’t know where to start, some must stand out from the rest.

Oh and I’m only on season 9 so I don’t really want to start listening to people I haven’t seen on TM yet

Richard Herring is kilometers more entertaining on RHLSTP than on taskmaster fwiw. As a giant bonus, the episode with Brian Blessed is magical and carefree for how you feel about Richard Herring

A lot of the episodes where TM contestants are the guest are the best. Start with the Joe Thomas one.

I got into Taskmaster originally through Nish Kumar's appearances on The Bugle. He's merely an occasional guest, though the podcast is still going strong.

+1 for off menu. TM guest recs: Greg and Alex (unsurprisingly, the latter just doesn't seem to understand food and it's great), Bridget Christie, Joe Thomas, Bob Mortimer, Victoria Coren Mitchell

Recs if you liked the person on Taskmaster: Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Judi Love, Fern Brady (I think this one was really sweet; it's nice to see someone appreciate Fern's taste in food and know what she's talking about), Jenny Eclair, Rylan Clark-Neal

Not a podcast, but I'm almost done with Fern Brady's audiobook. It's really good and enlightening. Not your typical comedian autobiography because of the themes and places it goes but still darkly funny at times.

Not a big Off Menu guy but Victoria Coren Mitchell's episode is a stone cold classic podcast.

I don't really "get" food, so much of off menu is just people talking in another language for me, so I gave up. I did enjoy the Victoria and Alex episodes though, their approach to food is probably the most similar to mine.

What do you mean - you don't have a sense of smell/taste? Does some particular foods not make you comfortable? Nothing can fascinate you by the way it tastes?

Bob Mortimer is one half of Athletico Mince. Nominally a football podcast, it is actually just a vehicle for character based comedy.

A lot of the characters are based on footballers, but bear little relation to their real life counterparts. Even if you have no interest in or knowledge of football, I'd say it is worth a listen if you're a fan of Bob.

In my opinion it does have a fairly rocky start though. The co-host isn't a professional comedian and, understandably, takes a little while to find his feet compared with Bob.

For the first dozen or so episodes they have an odd, rather hostile dynamic. It's clearly all part of the act but for me it just didn't work at all, serving to just suck the air out of everything they were doing. After those first few episodes though they find a more comfortable groove, so it's worth pushing through (or skipping).

If I remember correctly even Bob and Andy recommend skipping the first 10 or so episodes. It started off more football focused before they got bored and started mucking about, and that’s where it became fun.
