He also had an XM8 prototype sent to him in Iraq so he could be the only guy in theatre with the Rifle of the Future. This is him shooting it stateside during testing. He convinced the Pentagon brass that the 82nd AB was the only unit in the military up to the task of user trials of the new rifle lol.

It's funny that the USA is universally despised in Pakistan but is basically an american satrapy that does what it's told. But Indians love America and India held its sovereignty for the most part, until Modi anyway. And even then they got away with not toeing the line on Russia

that's a gross oversimplification of the actual problems that led to the xm8 not being adopted, but the actual reasons are a little more boring (like heckler and koch insisting on using their proprietary G36 magazines rather than the STANAG magazines that were meant to be standard across all NATO members' service rifles)
