It's an unfortunate byproduct of the 10-episode season. There's just less objective time for overarching plot threads to develop, so if it needs to be tied up by the end of the season, it gets half as many episodes to do so compared to if it were in a 20-episode one. I'm guessing that they're forcing it to wrap up this season just in case SNW doesn't get renewed, so that there's a clear end to the relationship instead of the timeline skipping ahead to TOS where they're no longer together for entirely unexplained reasons.

They have to wrap it up now because if Spock goes to pick her up from the shuttlebay with a bouquet of singing flowers and she's making out with Dr. Korby with a giant space rock on her finger and we see Spock's ears droop down with disappointment and then he does a sad Charlie Brown walk away, fans will hate her.

But also Paramount is on fire and everyone is striking, so who knows, tomorrow’s episode might be the series finale lmao.

The more I listen to La'an's song from last week, the more I'm convinced her entire arc was supposed to go to Ortegas and La'an was going to be gone all season until being the catalyst for the Gorn showing back up. And then she bites it, but wait, S3E1 reveals she went back in time and saved Rios from his bar fight, Rios told her about the Botany Bay, and she squeezed into Joachim's cryotube. The original actor comes back for a cameo and finally gets his name in the credits.

I’m not sure if Ortegas and Kirk’s relationship would crumble under the weight of constant one upsmanship or if they’d be the power couple constantly hi-fiving each other over all the cool poo poo they did. Either way, everyone around them would find it utterly exhausting.

lol someone set up a 20th century themed colony. I wonder how many other types there are out there. Oh poo poo it's loving Scotty. I hope this means that Pelia goes away next season. Best part of an otherwise okay episode. That zero gravity fight just looked extremely silly. Probably cost a shitload of money too. I can't believe they actually ended on such a cliffhanger. Also I wonder why Chapel didn't immediately put Batel into a transporter buffer until they figure out how to remove the I guess they did forget about Sybok this season.

I am very very much into the Pelia/Scotty dynamic. Would be fun to see that in Season 3 with Scotty as an apprentice. I was afraid they were gonna kill her off. I was also afraid they were going to kill off Ortegas now that she's finally on an away mission. I guess there's time in part 2. Looking forward to seeing the conclusion in 2025.

Ugh, I can't believe we have to wait so long to see the exciting conclusion to STAAAAAAR TREK: Strange New Worlds. To quote what a random stranger screamed at Patrick Stewart in 1990, "You have RUINED our summer!" I enjoyed the episode. There were some lame parts, but overall a very end of season star trek episode. But they felt a lot better in the 90s when you were getting the conclusion to the cliff hanger in just a few months, and not a year later. I swear, if Ortegas dies, I will be really pissed off.

I think I read somewhere that Paramount realized they hosed up with Paramount+ and they are going to focus on core shows, and Star Trek has to be one of those.
