Yes. The BattleTech miniatures license is with Topps/Iron Wind Metals/Catalyst. Technically the MWO rips are :filez: too(edit: prints of, not actually the files themselves), because PGI doesn't have the miniatures rights to authorize printing them. There's a legally ambiguous zone if you're printing them for your own personal use, but the minute you're buying them (or more accurately, the moment someone sells them or even gives them away) it's a license violation.

3rd party .stls are universally license violations.

I'm deliberately not assigning any moral value to anything above, mind you, just providing background and context.

That's the default. But if everyone agrees on using the same value of pilots you don't need to bother adjusting your BV.

4/5 is the default, in the sense that it's the assumed gunnery and piloting for any unit in the absence of deliberately changing them. YMMV on whether that's where you want to play your games (I tend to play 4/5 for most things).

I personally feel BattleTech (and Alpha Strike) work best at g3/p4 (for game length especially, 4/5s can have trouble finishing things off); but 4/5 is the assumed default everyone's just a little bit worse without being so much worse that the game turns frustrating.

5/6 leads to both sides parking in trees and lobbing shots at each other because they can't move and shoot; and 7/8s (the "never piloted a BattleMech before and the neurohelmet isn't properly tuned" statline) can't reliably hit each other even standing still. Which can make for a fun GMed experience because ever shot winds up a prayer for boxcars and golden bbs. :haw:

Firing a homing Arrow IV missile doesn't require a gunnery check, just saying.

Yeah Scroggins said that most of the new IlClan era mechs in the TROs are made by the Sea Foxes and it isn't clear yet which new mechs the other factions like to buy. So the factional mechs will be mostly from Dark Age era.

Playing against 16 Urbies was less fun than you would think. He took the R69 variant, so everything did 3 damage at Medium, which meant that I could either advance and instantly die or stay at range and plunk away for 2-3 damage a turn hoping for the best.

I went with the latter because I would prefer not to lose on turn 2.

Nah it was just a dude who wanted to field 16 urbanmechs. I could bring whatever I wanted, but it wasn't a challenge. I got extremely lucky in the objective we rolled (VPs = size of every mech killed or crippled, first to 10 wins).

I only lost my Axman because he wanted to ax, but he died from concentrated fire on turn 1 and I said nuts to that.

Crab, Archer, Blackjack, Rampage, Phoenix Hawk, and Warhammer handled it from range.

The Wraith slipped in and out and relied on its TMM of 3 plus jump jets to avoid dying.

Any other objective and I'd have been skunked.

Found a Neuschwanstein 3d puzzle at Salvation Army for $3. Worth it. This turned out great - fun with my whole family playing with an invading Clan force targeting three objectives of the Royal Palace (Spaceport, Power Generator, Royal Family in the courtyard) against a defending Inner Sphere force.

The Clanners pulled it off at the expense of most of their force - only the Thor and Daishi were left standing, with the Thor landing killing blows on all three objectives while being chased! a real MVP. Still, a pyrrhic victory..

This is extremely not the case if you're looking at new production or new variants of older mechs. The FWL (through the Clan Protectorate inside FWL borders, but also local production elsewhere) gets an absolute murderers row of good designs in the RecGuides including but not limited to:

Supernova 5
Huntsman
Shadow Cat
Regent
Rifleman 7N2
Shadow Hawk 7H
Cicada 4A
Black Knight 18
Hermes II 7A
Phoenix Hawk 9
Trebuchet 9N

Basically if there's a sick new variant of a classic mech, the answer to "does the FWL get this?" is yes more often than it is no.

The only thing on that list that's a new design that they manufacture is the regent, and they don't actually build that loving thing. Both Technitron and CMW decided to enter into an incredibly humiliating arrangement where they just get to build the frame and are expected to treat the design as a flagship for their companies.

And then the Dracs have the Tenshi which is so closely based on the celestials that its silhouette triggers PTSD flashbacks in enemy mechwarriors.

Conventionally: pulse lasers, precision autocannon ammo, targeting computers or AES, improved gunnery skills, biting the bullet and standing still to get good numbers on it with weapons that have large short ranges.

Actual answer: artillery or bombs

Alternate: literally just ignore it, it's a 20 tonner that dedicates almost half its tonnage to jump MP. Even the most dangerous one is an ankle biter at best.

I think there's been a misconception in general that the not-Clan Invasion minis are going to be 32nd century only. There's tons of very faction-specifc 'Mechs that are more FC Civil War/Jihad-era that don't fit the Clan Invasion mold, either.

Granted, the one restriction that seems to be in place like in RecGuide Classics is that the faction has to exist in both CI and iC eras.
