My great grandfather was a communist who was murdered in USSR. My grandfather was a communist who, when called, took up arms to defend his country. According to him, had Stalin been even a little bit less evil, he might well have fought on a different side in that war. Thank you for adding more context to Finnish history because it's one of those things that people like to not-so-subtly use to insinuate something unkind about Finns.

how is this poo poo going? i stopped following it probably 9 months ago or so, i can't remember exactly. it got a liottle too real when we housed some ukranian refugees in our housing co-operative and one is my neighbour now and i started talking to him about the war and these threasd stopped being funny. he's my wargaming buddy now cause he freaking loves tabletop wargames but he doesn't like to talk about the war regularly anymore and my info about the progress and such has dried up. last i heard was about prigozhin and the big wet fart that was. anything crazy happen to him? is ukraine still pushing or is it stalemate? belarus???? is putin becoming increasingly isolated?

I also want to point out that not everyone who went from Finland to USSR to build the "worker's paradise" were civil war refugees from the Red side. The left-leaning people emigrating or illegally jumping the border to USSR, especially to Soviet Karelia that was right across the border, and Leningrad region, continued up until mid-1930's when the Stalin's purges started.
