I have spent years half-convinced that everything on LTT was a bit, and that they intentionally clown-shoe everything they do on purpose. Because it's funny and gets views. Steve's argument is wholly correct there are plenty of reasons why its generally a good idea to seek comment from a subject before publication, but plenty of times its similarly inadvisable to do so - in this case essentially none of the usual practical/ethical considerations apply, and Linus' response completely and utterly validates the decision to publish without giving advanced notice
