For years we've all been seeing conspiracy theorists claim the cabals are fighting against cryptocurrency because it's too private (lol), is too hard to tax (I dunno), challenges the banking establishment (sure), depreciates the wealth held by the rich in USD and EUR, and is too decentralized (okay yeah for some assets). More recently I'm coming across conspiracies from the opposite perspective. That government cronies are trying to push cryptocurrency to replace the current currencies for any number of reasons and purposes. Because it actually isn't private at all and lets the government track payments. Because you can control what it's being spent on, hurting industries that are disliked but hard to outright criminalize e.g. pornography, protest movements. Because crypto will supposedly allow the rich to get richer even faster since they own the means of mining. Because you could bring back scrip and be paid Walmart coin that you could only spend at Walmart.
