Very nebulous and lead to speculation around the behaviour of head coach Jorge Vilda - fuelled further by the winning players distancing themselves from him during celebrations after the final. She was found guilty last week

Also on Women's football - Premier league clubs have been making big investments in their own womens football teams over the past few years, which has been a big source of money and expertise into the sport. Sure, the womens football team gets 1% of the budget of the mens, but PL teams are so expensive that 1% is more money than many other places. Similar in Spain, many of the best players on the Spanish team came from the Barcelona womens team.

Also because after all the notes are available you can present the whole thing as a linear narrative with a cast of heroes and villains and incompetent administrators and come out with things like "why didn't they believe the hero doctors?" without stopping to think that last time police, social services, and administrators uncritically believed two paediatricians with a wild child abuse conspiracy theory and wonky medical science behind it it went pretty terribly for everyone involved so perhaps closing the neonatal unit and doing a longer slower investigation was the correct choice.

Apparently it was an exceptionally complex investigation, and it took a long time to assemble and link up all the different bits of evidence. You've got to be really careful with any sort of medical analysis anyway, 'cos it's horribly easy to crunch a bunch of numbers together and draw an obvious (but wrong) conclusion from them: you've got to painstakingly ensure that you've accounted for every possible contributing factor, of which there can be an awful lot when considering something quite nebulous like: "The death and serious negative outcome rate for new babies in this hospital is higher than in other, comparable hospitals: what is the root cause of that?"
