Rogue Trader but you gotta play Recettear in between missions and sell people the Xenos artifacts you looted in those missions.

another thing that wotr did right is adding an ability that deals damage when you miss and weapons that attack 8 times in one turn. you either deal damage or deal a ton of damage

Lol wtf. Larian is so bad at programming and QC. They'll probably never even fix it based on their other stuff

no the dice rolls themselves are not the compelling stories. also yes, dnd dice rolling is a bit poo poo, especially if you have visceral negative reactions to hitting the shallow end of the probability distribution. that's understandable and fixable. *thinking real hard* thinking you can fix dnd by fudging dicerolls is like voting for democrats

That actually makes me think that it might be fixable since it sounds like the game is making GBS threads itself trying to track the state of that many NPCs at once and not making GBS threads itself trying to render them.

eh... not really? it's amazing BG3 works given some of the spiderwebs. it's a silly weird rear end problem (and probably not the only one) but it's way, way above average for a big rear end hype game launch

yeah that's what it looks like. i mean they are being rendered farther than normal which also seems like a problem, but the asset management and poo poo seems worse. if you look at a frame time graph as you mouse over hotbar abilities, for instance, you'll see massive frametime spikes every time you mouse over. makes no sense at all. there's probably a lot of stuff like that going on. there was with dos2 and most of it got fixed.

worst case scenario i'd bet stuff like those npcs could be modded out

you can turn it off although with the right gear you don’t need to. I gave minsc a bow that doubles your proficiency bonus and even with the penalty from sharpshooter he’s got +12 to hit.

Oh ok. I was just playing dos2 earlier and it crashed and had a weird error despite it being a fully updated and supposedly complete game so I guess I was not feeling charitable

you can fix missing in bg3 by taking the perk that makes it two rolls and takes the better roll.

anyway the answer is to take bg3 combat but have it be vermintide 2 combat instead. solution to all rpg combat really

skill issue. also did you have old saves/profiles hanging around? if so i'd back that up and delete the levelcache and profiles. those get hosed up

There was a feature I really liked in another d20 fantasy system that unfortunately never really took off (it launched around 4e and then kinda died for no real reason) called Fantasy Craft, where almost every class had a specific skill that they could almost always reliably succeed on so long as the target was under 20+your class level. The thief would almost always succeed on being stealthy, the diplomatic guy would almost always roll good on his Persuasion rolls, and so on. Its really strange that 5e operates under the assumption that only the rogue (and maybe the bard? can't remember) should ever get 5e's equivalent feature, Reliability (can't roll lower than a 10 on the skill you choose).

Every species can smell its own extinction.
There’s a ton of tabletop rogs out there that do different stuff and I’m always sad when people decide to just stick with dnd. There’s so much out there, where’s the curiosity!?

They even made the Dark Souls rpg with dnd 5E despite systems way more fitting existing. And there was even already a unique one in Japanese they could have translated!

The solution is just to remove the NPCs because they don't do anything. Or make them non-interactable/flee whenever combat starts, and nothing else. Sure it's less "immersive" but who cares, people want to be able to beat the game.

In tabletop the dm can at least go "you missed but your wild swing knocks over the brazier and spills burning coals all over the necromancers priceless Persian rug" so the players actions are still affecting the world rather than just "nothing happens, spend 15 minutes waiting your turn again"
Bg3 at least makes combat faster usually tho

3 days until the new season and my hype grows. Finished all my straggling quests last night.

We had a 4th PoI picture drop last night. This one was of a different PoI and I think backs up my thought about the new area being in the southwest area of the map.

We had a battlepass skin or boss reskin preview drop this morning.

It is a new skin for the wild card skin.
