Gunshow Poophole posted:when you say "mitigate the effects of Covid" do you mean the effects/symptoms of an individual's particular case? or the rolling and now perennial effects at a societal level that’s a totally fair point yeah I never did get why masks got such pushback I’ve never minded wearing one myself and honestly might continue to do so even if someone thanos snapped Covid away. Seriously the extra Covid precautions I’ve taken have also gotten rid of the whole “it’s normal to get sick a couple times a year “ gunk that goes around. but no I was more talking specifically about medical things like vaccines/boosters. I’m probably naive but I’d think most businesses would see most medical treatment options as a win cause it means they don’t have to change anything else but there’s still less “consequences” for them. I agree masks should have probably fallen under this boat too so I dunno I could just be way off base.

yeah. this is what they meant by the cure being worse than the disease, ultimately. one hundred percent of people having an n95 on, but alive, is WAY WORSE for the capitalist class than one percent of people being dead because they know it won't be them dying

I’d be concerned about pax resistant variants if there weren’t 8 billion people who couldn’t get pax making new strains to quote this again and make abundantly clear: the use of paxlovid to treat individual, or even thousands, tens of thousands of cases of Covid will not be what results in the proliferation of a variant that is not treatable with paxlovid. it does not work like antibiotic resistance. this was a specific concern, and I'm gonna say it a concern troll brought up to dissuade posters from seeking the drug. do not loving listen.

No you see we can't use a drug to protect ourselves because someday a variant will evolve that renders the drug ineffective.

i just got a call from someone claiming to be doing a survey on behalf of the CDC. phone caller ID showed as CDC NATL IMMUN and they were calling my private/unlisted/whatever number and got through any of the spam filter stuff i have, all that to say i think it was legit they were asking about precautions being taken for young children and teenagers in my household. i don’t have any so the questions stopped there, but that’sa weird one to get at present

My mom’s orthopedic surgeon prescribed her naproxen even though he knew she has chronic kidney disease. My wife has seen a litany of specialists over decades and it took one of the absolute best surgeons in his field to realize that she has an extra vertebra and maybe that is the cause of some of her chronic issues. I’ve seen a doctor fill a man’s circulatory system with glue, killing him. That doctor is still practicing and to the best of my knowledge suffered no consequences despite a rich and storied history of terrible outcomes. Doctors ignore and downplay common chronic conditions because they don’t affect white men. They are a key component of the apparatus of structural discrimination.

So much of the discourse on how the medical system fails patients is based on the experiences of women and marginalized groups, and rightfully so, given the magnitude of the failure. My experience as a cishet white dude is that doctors don't listen to me either. Solidarity I guess?

This is my new doctor and I feel confident in being prescribed paxlovid if I need it I should ask my actual one to confirm that I don’t have any contraindications and if she’d put in the order of the issue comes up. My assumption has been no and probably.

Yeah, four years ago my primary care physician (who is otherwise good) told me that my tailbone pain was due to the way I was sitting but I'm probably going to have to have it removed. I had to talk to my physical therapist and rheumatologist, who referred me to a neurologist. It's been a huge pain in the rear end, so to speak.

Idk if anyone uses these, I've never tried them (fauci has! lol) but they are really cheap right now on bondafide https://bonafidemasks.com/harley-n95-l-188-respirator-face-mask/ $15 bucks for a box of 20 and then possibly 25 percent off that, if the code TRUST works for everyone

BTW, the bulk vflexes seem to be identical to regular vflexes other than the pleating pattern. same size, same bands, same wings, just no speed lines.
