Nope, hologram Obama was never a thing.

There were rumors flying around at the time that the RNC was going to have hologram Reagan show up at the convention, and the political media got really excited about the possibility. It turned out to be complete nonsense (some random startup bro was spreading the idea as a PR stunt for his own company), and was quickly forgotten, but instead Eastwood did his ridiculous empty chair routine at the convention and some people eventually started mixing it up with vague half-memories of the hologram Reagan headlines.

The reason Eastwood debated an empty chair is much more boring and depressing. He thought having an empty chair representing Obama would be a sick burn that thematically lined up with his message that Obama was a useless do-nothing president who was neglecting the country. Also, he didn't actually bothered to plan out an actual speech, so he was winging it out there on stage and got too caught up in a bit that he thought at the time was brilliant.

They'll tolerate a non-white president as "one of the good ones", as long as he commits to maintaining and perpetuating white supremacy at a systemic level. They might not truly respect him as a person, but they'll vote for him against Joe Biden, and even write up transparently disingenuous articles about how Democrats are the real racists for opposing him.

Maybe, but I think you're vastly under estimating the % of GOP voters who will never, under any circumstances, vote for a non white presidential candidate, particularly a black one. You can Alan Keyes, Herschel Walker, Herman Cain and Ben Carson me all you loving want but we're talking about a party with a base made up of Proud Boys, motherfuckers marching through Richmond with tiki torches screaming about jews and who think that BLM and Antifa are terrorist organizations.

They'll tolerate the Clarence Thomas' of the world and that Black Sheriff Cowboy dude as long as they're politically useful but a genuine black GOP nominee I think would easily get 5% of the GOP voters to stay home. ANd they're already looking at razor thin chances of losing the popular vote but counting on winning the EC.

I guess one could argue that it would only have a big effect in safe, blood red KKK states like AK, MISS, OK and poo poo where it might go from 68 - 27 to 62 - 31 but I may have some news for you about how conservative republicans (still) feel about black people, even if one or two are considered among the "good ones" and trotted out on occasion to prove how not racist they are.

Calling it now that I'll never live long enough to see a black Republican President.

Did anyone subject themselves to Tucker Carlson's Trump interview?

https://news.yahoo.com/3-takeaways-from-tucker-carlsons-softball-interview-with-donald-trump-023821815.html

https://news.yahoo.com/tucker-carlson-asks-trump-worried-222849436.html

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson asked former President Trump if he’s worried someone is going to try to have him killed during an interview slated to be published Wednesday evening.

In a short clip previewing the discussion between the two men, Carlson asked Trump, who remains under Secret Service protection and is the current front-runner for the GOP nomination for president, if he’s worried for his safety.

“It started with protests against you and then it moved to impeachment twice and now indictment,” Carlson told Trump. “Are you worried that they’re going to try and kill you? Why wouldn’t they try and kill you? Honestly.”

“They’re savage animals; they’re people that are sick,” Trump responded.

It was extremely boring. He basically just asked, "How do you stay so smart, handsome, and cheerful when everyone is persecuting you for just telling the truth?" and "List a bunch of people who annoy you and why you think they would be so deranged and heartless?" over and over again.

Even for Tucker and Trump - two of the people who love self-masturbatory nonsense more than anyone else on earth - it was too much self-masturbatory non-sense and not even in a funny way.

"We're both brave truth-tellers who have been persecuted for speaking the truth. Have you noticed that?"

"Yes. Here is why I think nasty people hate truth-tellers like you and me..." over and over.

Trump probably wouldn't have agreed to it if it wasn't softball. There's no benefit for him in willingly taking hard questions, since he's the dominant candidate, has zero need to prove himself, and doesn't have very good answers for the hard questions he'd be likely to face. And even if Tucker were inclined to push for something harder, it's not like he has any negotiating leverage over Trump here. As an indie guy running his own show on Twitter, he needs Trump far more than Trump needs him, and they both know it.

I think Trump was just making up some "secret" reason why he kept calling him "Ada Hutchinson" before someone corrected him about what his name actually was. Like when he claimed that "Covfefe" was something he did on purpose for a secret reason.
