in many ways FC was as monumental as HL2 but it got overshadowed, understandably, by HL2’s more impressive physics and objectively better gameplay/narrative. the way it rendered water, the wildlife, the vehicle physics specifically were all absolutely mind bending at the time. games had never managed to depict a tropical environment in such a lush an interactive way before and really only Crisis has done so since, but in a way that was imo less charming and a bit too big to possess the distinctive character FC had
