70 million figure is funny cause it's also what he "forced" WB to spend to put out The Snyder Cut.

Little Mermaid sure didn’t put that money on screen

This also very much applies, even more so, to the Secret Invasion Disney+ show, which has very little in the way of effects work and cost $220 million.

Because of instead properly planning out a scene beforehand the director just forces fx studios to churn out endless variations until they get one they like.

The Dune delay is dumb as hell because the first movie was pretty successful and Barbie/Oppenheimer shows that people are excited about movies again. They're really married to the idea that you *gotta* have your stars on all the talk shows to make a movie a hit. And maybe that's true for small indie stuff but not exactly a sequel to a movie that made a cool 400 mil.

Earlier on in the strike someone posted what it would actually cost the studios to just give the unions what they want and it was a pretty trivial number. The cruelty is the point. They care more about giving power than giving more money.

Exploration is ill-advised.
I said elsewhere but executives at this point obviously hate that they have to pay people to make movies, the salivating over AI made it pretty obvious. They want the end of movies as creative works and to just be endless interchangeable Content.

They want their side to win over labor and have for a century now. People talk about class consciousness but no one is more mindful about it than these useless fucks

“It is true that profits would be higher under a regime of full employment than they are on the average under laissez-faire; and even the rise in wage rates resulting from the stronger bargaining power of the workers is less likely to reduce profits than to increase prices, and thus adversely affects only the rentier interests. But 'discipline in the factories' and 'political stability' are more appreciated than profits by business leaders. Their class instinct tells them that lasting full employment is unsound from their point of view, and that unemployment is an integral part of the 'normal' capitalist system.”

This is also why the Democrats are going so hard on "full employment", to ensure that the unrest from 2020 is practically implausible anytime soon.

Well, an association of managers is not a union. It’s at best a sort of guild and more likely (as in this case) simply a cartel.

Almost entirely an essay guy. Political Aspects of Full Employment is the essay SMG’s quote is pulled from and is widely available for free

Also, that guy in real life was condemned by Sparta as a coward and eventually committed suicide.

That was pretty hosed. What happened was Leonidas sent two of the Spartans away on separate paths in case the Persians caught one of them; that would've been fine, since they were obeying the direct orders of their king. But the other guy changed his mind and went back to die in the battle, so obviously the guy who did what he was told to do was just a coward running away.

To elaborate: Aristodemus, who the the character was based on, obviously tried to reclaim his honor in a battle so he charged the enemy and fought furiously before being killed. After that the spartans stopped calling him a coward, but they also thought he had been too reckless and refused to honor him.
