Yeah I do think that there’s stuff in Valhalla that hasn’t aged well but I don’t think we’re supposed to sympathise with Heimdall. He’s a blowhard and coward in general and in the previous story he was pretty evidently a bigoted jackass about Tyr’s background compared to Thor and the kids’ good hearted open mindedness (with some ribbing)

Loki’s a dick and orchestrated all this but Heimdall’s reaction is worse. That’s even putting aside the obvious situation where the most beautiful goddess of them all actually does seem to like him well enough and wants to sleep with him… and his puritanism makes him turn and run away from a good thing. It’s a pretty well-worn old fashioned sex comedy reversal but Heimdall’s an idiot.

I wouldn't go quite so far; I don't think you're meant to sympathize with Heimdall for blowing an incredibly obvious layup and somehow making it out to be the woman's fault, that poo poo was always pathetic. We just had a book of Thor being a decent person below all his various foibles, where Heimdall textually served to contrast him by being a racist piece of poo poo. I think at this point it's uncharitable to assume Heimdall's sexism is meant to be treated with any more respect than his racism.
Yeah, my read is also that we're not meant to sympathize with Heimdall here. He's being a poo poo, as is Loki - only Freyja seems blameless in this particular situation.

It’s common practice at convenience stores and fast food stores and the like to have someone in charge witness when a cashier breaks a large bill. (Or at least it used to be, I see it pretty rarely come to think of it - I think it might be one of those things that they did more fastidiously in the past and has stuck around as a pop-culture trope more than anything.)

I've been worried about posting this one b/c the images are so freaking huge, are they readable for everybody?

Yeah, the lettering is big and thick enough that it still reads ok to me, unlike a lot of the comics that get blurred out.

they all seem pretty moderately sized to me? mostly 674x1024, which is considerably smaller than many other comics on here.

imo bigger is better than smaller, just timg em. they'll expand to whatever your frame size is, whereas if they're too small you don't have options and gotta lean in.

for example my browser window is only a portion of my screen, and full-sizing this comic only fills maybe 2/3 of it. could be bigger!

I'd been putting the "h" at the end of the filename because someone in the other thread asked me to do so when I first started posting there, but I don't actually know what it does. It seems like maybe I shouldn't do that for this one?

Yeah, it's not necessary. On imgur, you can append an m, l, or h to an image to set it to certain sizes, I don't know what they are off the top of my head. Don't add anything to post it full size. As long as you're timging it shouldn't matter though.

there's also t(humbnail) and s(mall) below m(edium), but yeah h works for most things. imo for comics either post using img with h, or timg with no suffix. the latter works for everyone unless they are bandwidth constrained (56k no !!!)

kind of amusing that "huge" size is 1024x768 though. what year is it?

It wasn't just bandwidth, but people reading on old budget phones with little ram, like maybe even just two or three years ago. I couldn't read the five acres thread back then because the glut of full size pictures would make the app crash. Zero problems on the new phone though. Maybe the rest of the world has mostly caught up as well.

And that's the last of the translated Shinozaki we have. Here are the cover pages for that volume though, they're pretty good:
