I remember Hurricane Michael in 2018 was initially thought to only reach cat 1 due to the amount of wind shear that was expected in the gulf of mexico, but then quickly intensified from a cat 1 to 3 to 5 in the span of like 2 days. Not sure if the right ingredients are in place for that to happen again but it'll be interesting to see how it develops in the hot gulf waters Monday into Tuesday.
This system is giving me Michael’s vibes, yeah. It would make landfall east of where Michael did, but it’s coming from almost the same direction

it's not a forecast either, it's a weather model, and it has certain biases that make it do silly poo poo under the right conditions, and they're amplified when you're looking two weeks out. that's the model prediction for Sep 10

but it's funny to laugh at models predicting 120 degrees in Detroit or a hurricane going back and forth from gulf to land four times
