Had that exact thing happen a couple months ago. One of our clients asked us if we could help them get their data integrated with some fancy new Gumbies. It took me a solid hour paging through their sales pitch and documentation to find out what the loving thing actually does, much less how and where it does it. The whole thing was completely set up to get you to call their help line and pay them for a personal support session to set the whole thing up for you.

I'm stuck in a sort of dev hell where we've started upgrading Gumbies by like six versions, was told "It should take six to eight weeks", and two years later it's still a priority, meanwhile they've also decided to implement a Flurbles security client over it, which necessitates upgrading Gumbies another six versions or so, and it's just like please can we finish one thing first. I despise those sort of solutions. Almost always it’s just replicating the functionality of an existing popular solution and they dumped their entire budget into CSS.

I was (naively) surprised to be approached by one that also soaked up NSA money to act as a middle man between govt agencies that werent supposed to directly associate “You can’t use data from xyz, but you can use our alternative data!” *downloads and repackages data from xyz* “Here ya go”

That’s probably because Marge is her own voice exaggerated somewhat, everyone else is doing an impression. And that’s also the reason it’s off now that she’s older.
