Similarly in Jedi: Survivor, it turns giant scorpions (which are different enough from spiders to not really qualify for me, but whatever) into blurry, blocky, vaguely scorpion shaped things.

It's funny how much of it is within the sound design. Satisfactory's cat jpg's really are still scary because they still make the spider sounds instead of like a glitchy meow to match the Doom cutout speeding at you. edit: "spider sounds" like they actually hiss or something. god drat fiction

From what I recall, there was a database conversion error that resulted in every player being rendered as very tiny. And since their coordinates on the field are relative to the center, that's why the game dumped them all into the ball at the middle of the field.
