I know isn't the IIMM thread, but it always annoys me how an incomparable actor as Anthony Hopkins makes such an egregious misinterpretation of Van Helsing's reaction to Lucy becoming a vampire, and that FFC allowed/didn't catch it. In the blog, Van Helsing is so utterly despondent over it that he basically has an anxiety attack that presents as a fit of the giggles, which he is actively aware of and explains/apologizes for. Hopkins plays it as him just being totally stoked, how hilarious is it that this innocent girl that everyone loves is now a Vampire, like omglol?!

Tangentially related, in the Dresden Files book series, there are multiple types of vampires, called "courts". Dracula was a black court vampire, and it is specifically said that all the black court vsmpires are gone because Bram Stoker wrote the book to be a guide on how to kill them, leading hunters to have the information needed to do it effectively.

Yea Hopkins generally plays Van Helsing as an abrasive dick, which is not really in line with the character from the book. Very entertaining performance though.

The overall production design is what made that movie and as long as you keep that aspect it would've been equally entertaining as a Leslie Nielsen parody.

Ok the characters and performances in Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula map really well to muppets. Keanu is doing some straight up Kermit poo poo in that movie, and Gonzo would work shockingly well as Seward. He's addicted to chickens!
