I took the octopath less travelered,

And it made one-eighth the difference.
I hope the Jags or Titans trade up to snatch Harrison one pick ahead of the Colts.

Pats would be funny too I guess

Pats drafting a WR 1st would have people checking to see if Bill is having some Mitch McConnell glitch in the draft room.

Alternatively, Bill is having one of those glitches and somebody else says, "Finnally, we can draft a wide receiver for once!"

Bad, very bad!
I saw someone note that this is a good look into the market for running backs.

Even when we thought it was a straight up trade with Taylor for Waddle absolutely everyone in the world was laughing at the Colts. But we have a younger (slightly younger, isn't like Waddle's old) top 5 running back if he's right vs a top 10 WR who isn't the best guy on his own team.

And it's just a flat out hard no from everyone in the world to even consider the idea. That's before the rumored extra third on Miami's side which made it clear the Colts were not really trying to get this done, but it's interesting exactly how unthinkable this trade ever was.

I don’t know the details of whatever inter dimensional body swapping would need to happen. But if the Pats draft Harrison he would somehow suck rear end, playing in 13 games across 4 years before being cut and signed by another AFCE team.

I've seen this type of thing (not this bad) in a couple of other places. I assume it's somehow connected with having to do a lot of scrolling and every new little bit you read counts as a click maybe?

It seems like a fair bit of work has to go into making this too.

I wonder how hard this makes it to extend JJ next year when they also have to worry about QB, their OL (they have a young LT that needs to get paid soon too, right?), and bad defense.

This shows the Bears are geniuses for getting in early on the Kmet extension by not bothering to figure out if Kmet is actually an NFL player.

Draft a QB and have him on a cheap contract while giving him JJ and Hock as his primary targets. They have about $62m in cap space next year. Extending JJ won't be an issue but lol they're paying Cousins through 2027.

I do hope the RBs are doing their best to protect their bodies IE checking down as soon as there is even a hint of a firm tackle.

Ahh yeah, that checks out. Hell, they could throw Minshew out there and do alright with JJ, Hock, and Addison to throw to.

I maintain that TE is almost in the big 4 of hardest positions to play (OT, QB, WR, CB) and you really lock them up early like DEs if you can

Oh somehow $13 million to Hunter Renfrow and $14 million to Chandler Jones coming off the worst full season of his career (albeit the funniest with his outright murder of Mac Jones). $10 mil dead money to Cory Littleton from 2 years ago

With the bears/panthers it’s clearly accounting for trades and not the pick earned—anyone know if the steelers traded away a top five pick since 1970? Wild if not

The Steelers have never truly been bad since 1970 as far as I can tell? There's a 5-11 in there, a 5-9 earlier on. But for the most part they've been pretty good or their bad years are like 6-10. Which'll get you up there but generally not in the top five.

They have never been truly dominant outside of the late 70s. Came up with a couple of Super Bowl wins in our lifetimes, but not what I would call a dynasty exactly. They have always just been out there hanging around, mostly having pretty good seasons.

Bucs basically have two options. Extend Mike Evans or restructure Shaq Barrett. That's it, everyone else is already restructured. The price of winning a Super Bowl.

Huh, Willie McGinest was the last guy the Patriots took in the top 5 of the draft.

Yeah, that tracks I guess. Dude had a weird pair of careers, from pass rush specialist to elephant linebacker. Career leader in playoff sacks too

Playoff sack leader is one of those stats that you'd think would be pretty obtainable and interesting, but I can't recall ever being mentioned by anybody

16 - Willie
14.5 - Bruce Smith
13.5 - Frank Clark
12.5 - Terrell Suggs
12 - Reggie White
11 - Dwight Freeney, Charles Haley, James Harrison, Clay Matthews, LaMarr Woodley
10.5 - Von Miller, Richard Dent
