I remember reading about a Muppets screenplay of The Great Gatsby a few years ago and found an article on it. Kermit as Gatsby, Piggy as Daisy, Gonzo and Rizzo as fourth-wall-breaking friends of Nick.

I would absolutely watch that.

I've been here the whole time, and you're not my real Dad! :emo:
Real question tho is what should the one human do? What style?

Do you go Michael Cain and treat the Muppets as if they are royal Shakespeare actors and be the sole straight man? Or do you go Tim Curry and be a Muppet made of flesh and blood instead of felt and leave teeth marks on the scenery?

Both are very very good performances.

Subtle movie moment related to this. When Scrooge says "more gravy than the grave" and acknowledges the bad joke, it is something from the book itself, which even Dickens admits later was a terrible line

One of those bits that I think is pretty key to the whole thing; that Scrooge isn't just a withered capitalism elemental, he does have a sense of humour and fun, just one that's been beaten down and suppressed all his life.

I like that Gonzo at the end saying "Tiny Tim - who did NOT die - " is also right from the book.

Honestly Gonzo as Dickens makes that movie for me. Being able to inject the very good prose into the movie just gives the whole thing a special tone. I love MCC.

And that line is in reference to the Victorian belief that eating before bed would cause weird dreams.

Welsh Rarebit (cheesy toast) was thought to be especially bad for it; inspiring the highly influential comic series Dream of the Rarebit Fiend

When I want to relax, I read an essay by Engels. When I want something more serious, I read Corto Maltese.
In Ravenous, Guy Pierce's character is seen reacting poorly to the sight of blood, which seems to be due to the PTSD of his experience from the war with Mexico, with many others blaming it on cowardice.

But he's not faint or disgusted by the sight of it, he's already subject to the Wendigo curse after having inadvertently drank blood from the mass grave he was buried in. He feels the urge to consume injured and dying people so he's wrestling with the desire when seeing spilled blood, even before eating Richter's corpse.

The 3D animated Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey as Scrooge was second only to the Muppet version, and in terms of faithfulness was probably better. It was quite a surprise.

Part of this thread is having to wait until the subject becomes germane to you, or moving the subject along. For example the appeal of anime in any form is completely opaque to me, and it regularly crops up in this thread, but I deal with it by ignoring the discussion (because it isn't relevant to my interests) and either raising my own SMM, or overtly engaging with someone trying to change the subject. Much more helpful than me yelling 'lmao weebs'.

So what you're saying we need an anime adaptation done with Muppets.

Maybe Grave of the Fireflies. Or Urotsukidōji: Legend of the Overfiend.

It also already gave us that Muppets / Star Wars crossover that people were talking about earlier:

I'm surprised that no one has tacked Fireflies onto the end of Overfiend, so the kids are trying to survive the hellworld brought about by the return of the Chojin.

A Grand Yuletide Theory: The Muppet Christmas Carol is the Best Adaptation of A Christmas Carol

Ethan Warren posted:

I do believe the approximately 1,800 words we just spent on topics ranging from not the Muppets to extremely not the Muppets is essential to my grand theory making any sense, but for anyone who may have skimmed this entire section in a vain search for the name “Kermit,” I will repeat, emphatically, that:

A Christmas Carol is narrated by Charles Dickens, and he never lets you forget it.
None of the characters in A Christmas Carol are characters so much as the living embodiment of archetypal ideas.
Those are the important takeaways, and I have one more up my sleeve. Then, finally, I promise we can talk about the Muppets.
