Chirrut might still secretly be a mutant, but the part where R2-D2 and C-3PO do the same thing not long afterwards is the real evidence that telekinesis and cool backflips aren't the same thing as The Force. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtYHUYak0rE&t=28s

(i've always liked the idea that 'the Force' is narrative contrivance, given form within the diagesis.)

Not morally superior but I'd rather be able to do force things than not, that doesn't really seem very controversial.

Ahsoka, kinda rightfully, points out the Force is in All Things and it's just a question of talent and aptitude. Cases like Han and Chirrut having "Luck" can be argued as a subconscious manipulation of the Force. For argument's sake, Sabine might not be able to move mugs but she might be able to gain some basic spatial awareness talents.

The entire episode was 30 minutes (not including titles or credits), so yeah.

The claim was that the objective existence of psychic powers in the Star Wars series has “uncomfortable implications”, “opens [up] questions”, and “leads to a very, very uncomfortable place.”

My response is that it’s not really “uncomfortable” if, say, some people are genetically predisposed to have slightly longer arms with which they can reach faraway objects. There’s no “implication” of, like, eugenics or whatever in the bare fact that genes exist.

So you are actually agreeing with what I wrote, but…angrily?

Anyways, psychic powers have been provable in Star Wars as far back as the second film (Empire Strikes Back). As soon as you introduce telekinesis, that’s something easily measurable with as little as weight and a scale. Luke’s telekinesis can only remain ‘mystical’ if you just consciously avoid the topic.

It's unfortunate that this show is stuck in the exact wrong part of the timeline to even get into the questions "what is the force and how do people interact with it?", given that the sequels happen and demonstrate that nobody has learned a drat thing

I'd love an explanation as to why nobody's used Force Zoomies since Ep1 even though it's could really have helped

The only thing I am left to assume is that it literally works like a TTRPG and nobody else put points into that discipline because they would have had to forgo something else

Sucks that Obi-Wan completely forgot how to do it a day later when running to catch up with the QuiGon and Maul fight. Oops

Obi Wan should have used force speed on the Death Star. Imagine Alec Guinness zooming around, Han Solo trying to explain it, “So the old man runs track and field, so what”

Luke uses super-speed to fool Vader in Episode 5, and the Lucas films subtly imply that Obiwan used the same trick to pull off his disappearing act in the Death Star.

It's okay. Better than the recent live action stuff (aside from Andor) but it's flawed in different ways.

Will probably be more fun to binge at the end than to watch week-by-week.

It's alright so far. Better than the Obi-Wan show and Book of Boba Fett. Temper your expectations to be on par with Mando S2 and you'll find something to like about it imo. I say this as a mega fan of Filoni and Ahsoka in general.

That ability showing up in the movie seems to be just be a production band-aid for a part of the sequence that didn't work.

In the script, the Droidekas start blasting at the Jedi, and the hallway fills with smoke, obscuring them. The smoke then dissipates, but the Jedi are nowhere to be seen, having used the smoke cloud to escape.

For whatever reason, that part of the sequence was reshot to have them just run really fast instead of sneaking away in a plume of smoke. So the reason Obi-Wan didn't use that ability at the end of the movie is because, when that part of the film was written and filmed, the ability didn't exist.
