I can't really get a better move mod or play any range games with the Thunderbolt, so my plan is to just keep firing at it from here.

Hmm. Hmm.

I can get into position to justice foot the Stinger. Move mod if I do so isn't great and is vulnerable to the T-bolt's missiles. It's a risky ploy especially in a light. But there's nothing really great on in any case. Getting a better move mod and blocking the T-bolt LOS exposes my back and limits my fire, advancing more cautiously doesn't have a significantly better defensive mod.

I'm going to go for it unless there's a great deal of concern from the audience.

Eye of Balor 2-7

A trail of blossoming explosions rippled up the side of Ironhead’s ‘Mech as a flight of missiles from the Thunderbolt’s barrel-shaped launcher clipped her mid-run. Nearly half of the missiles missed wide, but the Sentinel wasn’t known for its armor. A hit from the Thunderbolt’s large laser probably could’ve penetrated her ‘Mech nearly anywhere—but the shot didn’t come. Instead the Thunderbolt’s large laser struck Prodigal’s Mongoose, while it speared Grandpa’s Hoplite with the single medium laser that still remained beneath its heavy missile launcher.

“They could’ve crippled me just then,” Ironhead realized with a start.

“They were making a point,” Grandpa’s voice crackled. Ironhead hadn’t realized she’d been speaking out loud. “They’ve now hurt every single one of us. So now we all have to wonder if they can kill any one of us before the four of us can take them down. It’s—not exactly pleasant math.”

“It’s like that Neo-Animism fad that’s starting to spread in the non-Royal Terran units,” Prodigal interjected. “Name your lance after an animal to channel the strength of that animal, or some nonsense like that. They’re like a wolverine facing down a pack of wolves. Wolves will always kill a wolverine, but the wolverine could injure one so badly that one or more of the wolves may not be able to hunt anymore. How’s everyone’s armor? Mine’s… not great.”

“I’m getting pretty thin—” Grandpa began, only to be interrupted by a startled cry from Ironhead. Something was moving farther down the canyon—either the pirates had allies, or maybe they’d been running from something. Either way, it sent a cold chill down her spine.

“Canyon walls!” She announced with as much calm as she could muster. The Thunderbolt was momentarily forgotten as she piped a camera feed to anyone who might not have had the same view she did. A pair of ‘Mechs loomed overhead, atop the canyon walls, perched on outcroppings that gave them a clear view down the canyon’s length. A moment later, Prodigal’s own view appeared on her secondary monitor. A matching pair of ‘Mechs, covering the blind spots the others couldn’t. Two Crusaders, and two ‘Mechs Ironhead didn’t recognize. That was concerning enough on its own. The SLDF had a lot of ‘Mechs, but she felt she’d recognize most of them at a glance. These machines were uncomfortably alien.

“Those unit markings are fake,” Theo pointed out immediately. “Unless that Crusader with the red shoulder is pulling double-duty as a DropShuttle on New Earth. The other one is a really well disguised flatbed truck.”

The comms crackled, and a man with a voice that sounded like fifty kilometers of bad road interrupted. The newcomer’s broadcast was largely in the clear, like they couldn’t even be bothered with the most basic of encryption. They were either non-military, or they didn’t think anyone important was listening.

“I didn’t realize one of our outer patrol units had already caught up with these runaways—nice hustle! You’ve got this covered, yeah? My team’s running a little low on ammo, but we’ll lob a few shots into these bastards if you need.”

Yes, we are way too early for the clans. We're still 16 years out from the Amaris Coup and about 21 years from Operation: Exodus and 52 from Nicky declaring himself ilKhan of the new Clans.

Yes, and as mentioned in my post above, one notable buyer was the Rim Worlds Republic. Amaris has been part of Richard Cameron's inner circle for a decade at this point, and this is exactly the kind of tactic he'd use to deal with potential loose ends, such as our resident Cameron scion.
