Can't wait for the Liberal surge in voters because some people just weren't able to vote for the NDP this time around for some totally mysterious unknown reason

The Cons are going to win a bunch of Winnipeg seats with like 37% of the vote, similar to what happened in the two recent Winnipeg byelections, and I'm going to be very angry. There's also a disturbing amount of Robert Falcon-Ouellette signs out in Southdale for some reason, so I guess Audrey Gordon is going to be one of those Cons sneaking back in due to morons voting for RFO.

If they go full psycho anti-woke as their main platform I dont think theyll win. If they go full faux-populist economic, they definitely would.

Here's a selection of the proposals:

Submission #1032
124. Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (Modification)

(crossing out 5 paragraphs of poo poo and replacing it with): We believe that the control and operations of the CBC/SRC as an entity should be accomplished through independent, non-governmental funding.

Submission #1257 - China
164. China

The Conservative Party will adopt an assertive foreign policy toward authoritarian dictatorships, including the Chinese Communist Party, focused on upholding Canadas values respecting human rights and democratic principles. We will expand trade and military alliances in Asia and strengthen our relationships with like-minded democracies to counteract Chinese government aggression.

To combat China's adversarial behaviour, the Conservative Party will:
Cease Chinese military cooperation.
Deny China's participation at sensitive Canadian research facilities.
Ban Chinese government aligned entities ownership in Canadian companies or sale/purchase of sensitive technologies.
Advocate Chinas removal from WTO until equitable economic reforms

... more boring foreign policy/defense poo poo...

Submission #1066 Unfair Hiring Practices
A Conservative government will restore merit in Canadas innovation by directing hiring practices associated with federal research funding away from ideology and instead emphasizing first and foremost, supporting and retaining Canada's top research talent, irrespective of personal immutable characteristics.

Submission #998 - Protecting Workers: Those in Unions, Public Sector, or in Self-Regulated Trades or Professions.
The Conservative Party does not support forced political, cultural, or ideological training of any kind as pre-condition of employment or practice. Those employed in the public sector, unions or self-regulated trades/professions should not be forced to make affirmations, or participate in ideological programs, as a condition of employment or practice.

Submission #1380 Supporting Investment in Canada Capital gains on the sale of Canadian equities and capital property are currently subject to personal income taxation on 50% of the net capital gain. The Conservative Party supports elimination of taxation on capital gains accrued by Canadian holders of Canadian equities and property to a lifetime maximum of $1,000,000.

Submission #1249 31. Carbon Tax
We believe that there should be no federally imposed carbon taxes or cap and trade systems on either the provinces and territories or on the citizens of Canada. The provinces and territories should be free to develop their own climate change policies, without federal interference or federal penalties or incentives. Significant emission reductions are achievable through development and application of new and/or improved technologies and wise policy.

Submission #1157 - Development of a Hudson Bay Port The Conservative Party supports development of energy transmission infrastructure and a Hudson Bay port, for the export of LNG, hydrogen, and other bulk product. The project would be a monumental undertaking of National importance. Canada should actively engage with provinces, private sector and Indigenous interests to earnestly explore this opportunity.

Submission #1254 Passenger Rail We support improved rail infrastructure across Canada, including innovative high-speed passenger rail where warranted. This would ease conflicts between passenger and freight trains, reduce highway congestion and GHG emissions, and promote national unity and inter-provincial trade. (yeah no way this passes)

Submission #1067 Canadas Bail System Ontario Regional Priority The Conservative Party believes that Canadians safety should be protected by keeping dangerous offenders behind bars while awaiting trial, rather than amongst law-abiding society. This requires: (1) mandating that a bail applicants criminal history be revealed at bail hearings, and (2) a much-needed reformation of the counterproductive catch-and-release bail system.

... some gun stuff and anti child-porn stuff, then the culture war proposals really begin:

Submission #1268 - Protecting Children's Mental and Physical Health A Conservative government will protect children by prohibiting life altering medicinal or surgical interventions on minors under 18 to treat gender confusion or dysphoria, and encourage positive mental and physical health support for all Canadians suffering from gender dysphoria and related mental health challenges.

Submission #1858 - A National Uniform Right to Informed Consent and Bodily Autonomy
Every Canadian is entitled to informed consent and bodily autonomy. Health professionals must disclose an uncensored risk benefit analysis for any treatment (including vaccines) while protecting patient privacy. No constitutional right shall be restricted for refusing medical treatments or disclosure. Our country shall promote a scientific, unprejudiced, balanced, open discourse.

Submission #908 77. Euthanasia - MAID, protecting the vulnerable Ontario Regional Priority In principle, the Conservative Party opposes euthanasia and assisted suicide. Furthermore, we oppose the extension of euthanasia and assisted suicide (MAID) to minors, to people who are not competent, and people who live with psychological suffering (mental illness), and people not terminally ill (their natural death is not reasonably foreseeable). We oppose MAID for people living with disabilities or mental illness seeking to die based on poverty, homelessness or inability to receive medical treatment. Euthanasia must not be an abandonment of people living with genuine needs.

Submission #999 89. Women - Protecting Female Sports, Intimate Spaces and Women's Rights
For clarity, the term woman used throughout this CPC Policy Declaration means female person.
The Conservative Party supports the full participation of women in the social, economic, and cultural life of Canada, and believes their unique identity and contributions should be celebrated and supported.

The Conservative Party of Canada believes that women are entitled to the safety, dignity, and privacy of single-sex spaces (e.g., prisons, shelters, locker rooms, washrooms) and the benefits of women-only categories (e.g., sports, awards, grants, scholarships).

The Canadian workforce has evolved to include more women than ever. We believe all Canadians have the right to freedom from discrimination in the workplace and equality of opportunity.
Individuals should be only judged on skills, qualifications and merits. Women must be entitled to equal pay for equal work.

We condemn discrimination against girls through gender selection abortions.

Of course I skipped over the balanced budget submission, which pairs well with this one:

Submission #1727 - No tax on working income for seniors aged 65 and beyond Quebec Regional Priority
90. Seniors
The Conservative Party recognizes that those over the age of 65 are becoming a dominant segment of our population. We are committed to ensuring that seniors continue to have quality of life, accessible health care and the ability to stay in their homes longer.

Many Canadians wish to continue working but are penalized by the loss of retirement benefits. We oppose the discriminatory practice of mandatory retirement and believe Canadians should be given the choice of retiring or continuing to work without the loss of federal retirement benefits. We also believe that workers over 60 are a trained and needed workforce in a context of low unemployment. We believe in the implementation of tax incentives that will stimulate their retention or return to employment.

We believe that workers aged 65 and over should not pay taxes on working income.

There was one submission for simplifying the tax code and another half-dozen for adding more tax breaks and credits, e.g. for first-time home buyers.

Finally, Canada's poor old CEOs will get their millions tax-free. What a sales pitch for the plebiscite. I'm sure someone like Norman Murray Edwards (with his meagre $3.7 billion dollar net worth) needs this change in order to retire comfortably.

Edit: Also by specifying "working income", this will do nothing to assist the living of actual lower- and middle-class pensioners.

I read an interview with a homeless guy who came very close to going through with MAID based on his poverty and inability to get appropriate support (he got that through the community after his case was reported on) and he was very emphatic that he didn't want people going after doctors approving this because he made a rational choice based his circumstances and it wasn't his doctor's fault they couldn't prescribe what he needed to live.

So yeah, pretty much this.

I bet it's pretty hard on the doctors to have patients like this where they know what they need, it's reasonable and achievable, they are healthy and could have many years left and the only option that is open to them is a dignified death.

The train thing is such an out of nowhere inclusion lol. I can only assume some Tory uppity up has family on the board of CN or something since VIA doesn't own any track iirc and can only run on CN or Canada Pacific or whoever' lines. Only way it makes sense

Coincidentally the privatised track through New Brunswick is so poorly maintained that there are sections VIA won't let trains go faster than 30km/h lol. Takes 22 hours to go Hali - Montreal, which is only like 14 by car

There was at least one other motion about rail in general including cargo rail to tidewater ports. I was just skimming them anyway I have no idea which if any are likely to pass or if the CPC even gives a poo poo about their official platform. Last time I looked at the federal Liberal's equivalent member policies, they were generally more progressive than typical election platforms, which as we know all major parties and their leaders take extremely seriously.

I don't know if it's even credible as such, considering the whole reason MAID is legal is because of a supreme court ruling that seems unlikely to be changed (notwithstanding notwithstanding, of course).
