idk Santos did the hard part of benching him, but Martinez brought him back. He wasn't bad in the first three games but yesterday he was awful. On the other hand, Gonçalo Ramos is injured and we don't have any other decent strikers (Félix also hasn't been great and doesn't play very well alone upfront).

I think they specifically hired Martinez because he's too much of a wet blanket to drop him. I watched nearly all of Portugal's match yesterday and they look incredibly restricted by having to play with Ronaldo despite having a truly world class midfield behind him.
