Speaking of sweet rear end bars, I would love one of these to throw on my Ti singlespeed 29er.

Babby's first full custom build. I picked up a beat up Trek 930 from the late 90's and painted the frame magenta (first time spray painting anything). Fork is a random surly fork in similar condition. This frame rides smoothly! I had not expected to notice, but even compared to my aluminum 140mm hard tail on 2.8 tires, this feels smoother on paved ground.

Use case is coffee runs and paved path riding. I'll probably fit a basket to the front eventually.

Y'all got any suggestions for a bar and stem combo that would be more comfy for the wife? She's a little short for the frame, so more back sweep and rise would be nice. She didn't like my MTB bro bar..

Ahearne MAP handlebars are my favorite but yea lots to choose from.

Don’t think it’s being updated anymore but this is decent for comparing bar sweep, width, and rise

Thanks folks, I've now got a bunch of options to check out. After showing her several of these, she's apparently into straight bars with basically no back sweep. I do think the reach is just right with the 60mm stem, so I'll probably find a high rise BMX style bar for this sick rig.

I've been wanting to build a single speed townie on an older steel frame. To scratch the itch till the right frame came up on local Facebook/Craigslist, I grabbed an old SE Draft from the backyard of a house I do maintenance for and built it up with Ebay parts. It turned out pretty well but I don't want to have a heavy single speed on a cheap drivetrain and wheels. This is for sale but I think I've got it listed too high to even get bites. I want to break even on it (maybe $200 in donor bike, parts, and paint?) but that might not happen. Brand new ones are around $300 so I listed it for that with the expectation of dickering down to low-mid 200s. Except for lightly used brakes, bar, pedals, and saddle, it's all brand new parts on the frame.

I planned to sell the above bike to fund the purchase of whatever frame and parts turned up for building the one I really wanted. But then this turned up, nearly completely built and I couldn't pass it up. All I did was put new brakes and levers on, add the little inboard bar end nubs, and wrap the bars. I love this thing, it's really light and flexy compared to the SE. Very :italy:

Just my 2 cents, but I think the bike wold be more aesthetically appealing with a sharpied on downtube logo and head badge. The expanse of blue is a bit stark.

A mate asked me if I could do anything with the old 90's bike he rode as a teenager. Everything on it but the frame was hosed and I was able to replace it all with random crap I'd hoarded, pretty pleased how it came out. The only remnants of the old bike are the frame, tyres and seat post; I didn't realise I had a complete 90's 7 speed groupset just kicking around. Seat is a placeholder, he's got a proper one now. Totally free bike to him, priceless incredibly satisfying labour for me.

He's coming for a ride with me and I'm hopefully going to gateway-drug him.

Look at that sweet, sweet rack on that hot little thing over there.

I'm a pack rat. I like being prepared for breakdowns or flats, and on a road bike, you only have so much room. I can manage with a nice saddle bag and handlebar bag, but when it comes time to do an unsupported metric century, I have to get really creative to plan convenience store rest stops at logical places along the route. Now, that won't be an issue. And, next time I hit Good News along the Katy Trail, I'll be able to make a proper beer run!

I had the folks at the LBS do the main install. Attaching a rack to a D-Fuse-equipped bike requires one of two special seatpost adapters. A while back, I got one from the shop, but it's the wrong one--it goes on the frame and acts like the seatpost clamp and isn't compatible with my bike. The LBS did have the right part, though, soI let them deal with the rack install. When I got home, I adjusted the pitch of the shelf--they had it sloping away from the bike, so I fixed that.

I'm not going to use this as a grocery-getter or anything, since I have a bike that's better suited and equipped for that. But with the MTX trunks I have, this bike is now capable of more than just road riding. Keen!

This is very good but see below your post for proper bike photo setup. Drivetrain side out is top priority.

Step your game up over even jamal's by lining up cranks w downtube and shifting to the smallest rear cog.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk
