Stafford is decently far below the average on the PFR monitor: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/hof/hofm_QB.htm Not having any All Pros and only one Pro Bowl really hurts, but that he went to the Rams and immediately won a championship gives him a really strong argument that he would've had a much better career (or at least, public reception) if not for being on the Lions for so long. His counting stats are decent enough. That "average HoF QB" number (currently 108) is also gonna shoot up quite a lot when Brady, Brees, and Rodgers goes in.

stafford can get into the hall of fame if he has a good season this year and next. if he doesn't play that much he won't. accrued stats and a ring would be enough without other accolades but he doesn't have enough of the stats to weather the modern qb storm if he retired today

Lions Twitter is saying Goff also declined Don't forget Stafford's also been the QB for the only two 1900+ yard receiving seasons in league history. That said, as much as I love the guy for his time in Detroit, he's not getting in without more hardware.

As far as QB's who mostly overlap Stafford I don't think he has a case before Cam Newton or Matt Ryan, let alone the actual guys who will be hall of famers.

For fucks sake he's the QB for the Dallas Cowboys, hated by everyone nationally and his own fanbase (albeit for different reasons), and this was all BEFORE the tattoo poo poo. He made the right call, he's got enough heads up his rear end. I think more QBs should turn the show down, even if it was an interesting watch.

I just remembered that during the preseason the Jets let Aaron call some plays and one worked well, where Zach hit a deep throw that Aaron was hoping he would target. I wonder if something like that might help Wilson play better.

Quarterbacks without rings in the hall: Dan Marino, Fran Tarkenton, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, Dan Fouts, Ken Anderson and John Brodie. Hasn't happened in a while, and all of those guys had stronger careers than Ryan (imo and with the caveat that I know very little about John Brodie)

Staff unfortunately had the best years of his career wasted on some REALLY bad Lions teams that nobody but us sickos in Detroit bothered to watch. I fully believe that had he gone to another team earlier, or had Lions bothered to get their poo poo together before he left, he'd have the stats and popularity to be a strong candidate for the Hall — but as it stands now, the only way he's getting in is if he wins a second Superbowl.
