It's definitely not Babylon's Fall or Forspoken or Avengers XVI did like...mostly fine. Not as big a hit as one would expect from a mainline FF, but far from a flop. The bigger issue might be that Square Enix, companies and investors both, keep expecting Final Fantasy to bail them out of other bad decisions.

The problem seems to be that FFXVI didn't sell well enough to make up for Babylon's Fall or Forspoken or Avengers so they are in damage control mode
