Can I trade Endo for Onosho (or, if he's unavailable and let me know if he is, Kinbozan)?

Since I have done this, (results through today so spoilering) the previously 0-3 Endo has gone 5-0 and the previously 3-0 Onosho has gone 2-3. I think the moral of the story is never trade.

Gah, no. I pulled results from last basho's spreadsheet, but apparently hadn't saved it when we worked out your scoring discrepancy at the end of last tournament. Fairly pleased with how my team is doing despite having immediately forgotten who was on it.

I think it's down to:

Takakeisho coming back from injury looking better than expected (though who knows after that bump on day 8). A bit lucky I didn't get my first pick of Hoshoryu.

Wakamotoharu off to a hot start.

Mitakeumi and Endo are potentially way better than their current rank.

Lone hold out with a losing record is Shodai, who I think is also better than his rank suggests. He's been through the sanyaku ring week one, so I expect he'll get easier matches starting today and perhaps turn things around

Of course the inverse is true of the rest of my team, they should start getting harder matches now.

NERF THIS!

Ura is the best (spoilered some match results just in case):

https://topics.smt.docomo.ne.jp/article/chuspo/sports/chuspo-771199

quote:

Ura's love for McDonald's, his ally in weight gain, makes him sad that the price of sausage muffins will be raised.

Even though he had taken a white star from the new ozeki, he couldn't help blurting out, "It's sad that they're going to raise the price of sausage muffins." Ura (Kise) hit low and pushed Hoshoryu (Takasago). He kept moving and landed a flurry of strikes that sent his opponent crashing to the ground, shoulder first.

The match was perfect. He kept the initiative and won the bout. However, since his opponent was an ozeki, he said, "It was just a coincidence. It was great that I was able to get a white star in a place where I couldn't get a white star in terms of my ability. I want to cherish it," he reflected humbly.

It was the eighth day of the autumn tournament. It was the eighth day of the autumn tournament, and the players were beginning to feel tired. "I'm tired," Ura confided honestly. "I'm trying not to lose weight, but...." He weighed in at 143 kilograms for the current tournament, but he will inevitably lose weight during the tournament.

"It hurts that I can't eat in the morning. I want to keep my weight down to minus three kilograms throughout the tournament." This is a serious problem for Ura, who is aiming to increase his weight.

McDonald's hamburgers are helping him gain weight. It is the price increase that Ura wants to complain about. Although he has been criticized by those around him for eating protein in the form of hamburgers, he has maintained his love for McDonald's, saying, "I'm a friend of McDonald's. I'm not going to let the damage from breakfast McDonald's get to me. But I'm on the side of McDonald's," he said. The price increase for sausage muffins is sad. Still, we would like to believe that his love for McDonald's will never change.

On the other hand, shin-ozeki rarely go kadoban without withdrawing due to injury - that's only happened twice since the current kadoban rules were instituted in 1969, both times in 2000. For context, in the same period, there have been 13 newly promoted* ozeki who withdrew from competition before going make-koshi, and 63 ozeki promotions in total.

It'll be interesting to see how Hoshoryu plays the next six days.

* "newly promoted" instead of "shin-", because Tochinoshin became ozeki twice and both times withdrew from the very next tournament.

I'm still not convinced he doesn't just take an 8-kyujo unless the leaders drop one to put him back in the race especially after day 8. That's probably still better than Hosho will wind up a though.

Dead body rule is basically where a wrestler in an unassailable winning position touches down first to break their fall and prevent injury. The problem is that this is often up to interpretation on what exactly is an unassailable winning position.
