Make the phone thicker 😱
Make the "teardrop" shape that was rumoured way back for the iPhone 5
Make a "camera bar" like the Pixel phones
Make a periscope lens

There's plenty of possible solutions and it's absolutely wild that everybody just has to put up with ugly lumpy wobbly phones because I guess nobody at Apple ever rests their phone on a table??

Make the phone thicker with bigger battery to meet the lenses and use that space to give us back the headphone jack.

The pro does have a periscope lens, but apple calls it tetraprism. But instead of making the phone thinner they use it to give more focal length.

The camera bump is pretty obscene but fixing it conflicts with their other primary mission.. making phones thinner. And lighter. So we just get to deal with wobbly phones until someone invents new physics or they give up and make the phone a chonker.

Make the whole case as thick as the camera and shove battery in the open space.

The camera bump slightly propping the phone up is better for Face ID when you glance down at it :haw:

It would weigh too much for one-handed use.

Going without my case for the last week made me realize I find it a little easier to hold with the case on. It’s harder to swipe from the side but nicer to hold.

Also I don’t care if it lies flat, it is probably easier to pick up with a little space.

PS yes I want my headphone jack back

The camera bump is now more than 50% of the horizontal dimension of the phone, so with a case that has the camera rim it's actually stable.

Problem solved forever.

I just found out UPS stopped the live truck location map and I might die. It saved hours to be able to pick up a package when it was driving past my block rather than waiting for them to do bizarre loop-de-loops around a huge neighborhood. Or maybe deciding that was enough for the day and they’ll try it again the next business day if time allows.

The real horror is realising not that camera bumps are a status symbol, but the entire visual identity of the phone. Samsung (the quintuple bump), Google (the camera shelf) and Apple (camerasquare) have all made their camera bumps the defining visual image of their phones.

A tech shop near me has the regular 15s in and in case you were wondering, in-person they are so pale that they are all essentially variations of off-white. Like if you were looking at a white phone through different colour temperature settings on your TV.

It already popped up a warning and refused to transfer from my old phone. It offered to update first, but just... didn't do anything. After rebooting and trying again twice I finally restored from iCloud backup like a chump (had to enter my Apple ID manually and all), and the it immediately updated the OS afterwards,

Speaking of colors, the blue titanium is pretty. Yeah the band seems to be a fingerprint magnet but that's why there's a case.

Doesn't the phone auto update when you're transferring anyway?

This will be the first time I have 1) switched phones using an eSim and 2) moved from iPhone -> iPhone. I'm currently using Spectrum Mobile (got a free line with my promotional internet package). Not surprisingly, their help topics aren't totally clear on the correct steps to take.

I'll probably end up calling Spectrum to walk me through everything, but should the correct steps sound something along the lines of:

1) Sign into iCloud account on new phone

2) Update software to most current version

3) Perform the transfer/setup from my XR to 15PM

4) Hope that the eSim makes its way to the new phone?

5) Spectrum also seems to indicate I might need a new Sim if I'm going from 4g to 5g?

Ugh. I always get paranoid about losing my number when switching carriers, etc. Just trying to do a little homework before I really take any action. :)

It does when you do the initial phone setup but I think if you go through the setup without transferring and try to transfer later it will not. Have to update manually.

Picked mine up from Da Froot Stand. Some dude in line in front of me was whining about how it was unfair he had to wait in line and he ordered for pickup so he wouldn't have to wait. The Apple worker was NOT having it. My total tint from getting in line to leaving was 20 minutes. I hope that was enough to ruin his day.
