Let's hope the gameplay is more interesting this time. The first Timespinner started out okay, but the level design quickly devolved into following straight-line corridors, without even much in the way of simple platforming.

It's fun! The "Heroes of the Inner Sphere" dlc adds a career mode that was really what I wanted out of that game instead of a story campaign. There's also mods out there that improve the experience by adding new mission types, bigger battles, and better AI for your lancemates.

Not sure if there's a thread for it but My Time at Sandrock just put out an update about their 1.0 price increase 3 days from now. It will be $40 (or I assume ~40EUR) but it is currently available at fanatical for around $15 or 18EUR. Is it worth grabbing it? I ... am kind of ambivalent about My time at Portia. It wasn't terrible, but it didn't wow me either.

Absolutely get it if you like the genre. It's a 100 hour game for a steal.

MechWarrior 5 is an incredibly bad game without mods but lots of people say mods finally make it good. When I tried with mods it was still incredibly bad but that was a couple years ago so I assume the good mods have been released since then.

The enemy AI and mission variety are awful without mods, almost every mission ends up being just a death match against a bunch of helicopters and a couple mechs that run straight at you. Terrain is virtually never used to make anything about the maps meaningful and it's nothing but a shooting gallery every time.

Battletech with mods is a phenomenal mech game though. (It also kinda sucks without mods)

This is worth whatever you pay for the game as a new player…I recommend some of the mods listed before you ever drop the first time.

This is also well put…there are (big) mod packages that completely revamp the game and make it better, from more wacky/wild to strictly adhering to TT feel/rules.

Awesome bittersweet fantasy XCOM Wildermyth has just announced its second DLC. Coming a few months from now it will be adding another story campaign and a run-based mode that's all battles without any of the narrative or strategic layer. Why is this relevant now? Well, they have a closed beta you can join in for the new game mode.

This is great to hear. I'm definitely going to pick this up for the campaign. I don't think I'll do much with the challenge mode instead of firing up a challenging random campaign, but I love their authored campaigns most of all.

Honestly I gave Btech multiple benefits of the doubt after the technical disaster that it was/is (and I couldn't refund), but I finally threw in the towel when someone else pointed out: The moment-to-moment gameplay sucks. It really doesn't capture the coolness of having huge mechs stomping around, and modding in a hundred different parts isn't going to change any of that. I had more fun with MechCommander2, which says a lot.

They put one of these behemoths up every couple of weeks, though they're always in the paid section. To be fair, it's only about $2 each for this type of puzzle, and that's a good deal for 5-10 hours of play. Though you really have to be into picross to work through something like this.

Another campaign is nice but combat-only game mode is a strange choice.
They should be making big event packs as DLC, to capitalize on the game's strengths.

Didn't expect to enjoy the Balatro demo as much as I did. Been a hot minute since I played much Poker, but I picked up what it was putting down pretty quickly.

Any word on whether or not they're porting it to phones? Seems like a good time-killer for when you're trapped on the subway or sitting in a waiting room.

The main thing that brought Btech down for me was the mission design. Like every other contract boiled down to "go here to fight an enemy lance, whoops here's a second lance as well". It almost always devolved into a knock-down drag-out brawl, which in turn meant there was hardly ever any reason not to always bring the absolute heaviest lance you can field. Maybe mods help there, but at the time I hadn't found any that really helped there.

There is a setting to disable adult mods. And if people make a mod that is otherwise SFW but decides they just have to have something NSFW in the thumbnail, it also gets thrown into the "adults only" pile. Like the Nexus doesn't create the thumbnails, the mod authors are the ones who decide it
