In the pre viagra times the “get back in the groove” ads were Extenze, Ephedra, and h57 hoodia? I like downcast the most and it's not a subscription but it has no audio processing to make poorly recorded podcasts sound ok  Overcast has the best processing but one of the worst UI imo. Pocket Casts has such a feature but it pales in comparison to Overcast.

AntennaPod (Android) is free and open source, so no ads or data collection (except those baked into the podcasts themselves), and if it dies, someone will fork it.
