Seems like they are aware of the issues which is nice. Hope to see some neat stuff come out for s2. If not, we’ve got a ton of good games to play in the meanwhile.

Here are a few for reference Hit Recovery - Good Life/Mana steal - Good +all skills / +specific skills - Good Resistances - Good Elemental/Physical damage - Good Armor / Damage Reduction - Good Crushing Blow/Open wounds/Knockback/Ignore Defense - Good Magic Find - Apparently people debate over this, but I think it is good Attack Rating - Not so good but OK, stacking high AR did feel good Cast rate / Attack speed - Good Block chance & Speed - Good Then LoD came and brought much more to the game in terms of properties and unique mechanics on items, but this is not currently comparable to D4 Now, D4 loot does suck very hard too, but it is not as easy to fix because the core mechanics behind the item properties are total JUNK. Here's some: Critical chance / Critdamage (general or conditional) - JUNK Lucky hit - JUNK Overwhatever hit - JUNK Resistances - Doesn't work, JUNK Dodge chance - JUNK Conditional Damage Reduction - JUNK Conditional damage (close/wounded/distant enemies etc) - JUNK Vulnerable - JUNK +all skills - JUNK (seriously how did they even manage this..?) Barrier / Fortify - JUNK There's a few which are OK though Resource generation - Good Class specific Cost Reduction - Good Cooldown Reduction - Good Attack speed - Good Specific +skills - Good My point is, they would have to make another game altogether in order to do away with all these crap systems which make itemization in the game bad. In d2, low light meant you could not see far but the mobs could not see you either

Yeah the whole 60 sided conditional damage model is hot garbage designed by The Riddler. I'd be worried even adding a useful damage calculator into the game just because it would lay bare the pants on head clown math. Getting rid of that will fix 70% of the gear problem.

Also status quantity aside, the items are completely disconnected from the effects. For example: Why is this hammer causing more damage to chilled enemies? Is it fiery? Is it because it's a blunt weapon? No. It's just a different stat range. You can replace it with anything. They went with that, instead of working with variables like range, speed, weight, physical damage type (blunt,piercing, slashing), + X amount of elemental damage types. So instead of something like "Great Fiery Soulhammer" which is a hammer great against living and armored targets, you get "Damnation Flesh Lurker" which is a random list of conditions that's 12% better against anything you farted on 5 seconds after calling it a bitch. And that's a change they brought over from D3 and made worse by further diluting it.

Legendary aspects being interchangeable among gear slots is a good idea in theory but in practice it kind of eliminates loot identity. When you're endgame item farming, seeing some monster cough up an UNID'd [Diadem] or primal [Sword] should feel like a truly epic event, not another chore where you have to mouse over the 3 other similar aspects in your stash to see if it's worth the cost of upgrading. Uniques were sort of intended to take this role but they're either so niche or so rare that there's not much to get excited about, and they don't even look particularly distinguisable from any other items in the game. In conclusion, Epic Loot is as much a character in Diablo as Tyrael or Cain and it was a mistake to make almost every slot indistinguishable from one another.

They would have forward projected budgets based on an expectation of the game being much more "sticky" than it has been - season passes, cosmetics and obviously expansion packs eventually. Like yeah, the game LAUNCH was a success financially I agree, but moving forward the execs are likely scrambling to somehow make those projections realistic again. Which feels good to me because they're the ones who hosed the game I think, not the devs who clearly worked hard in challenging circumstances.

Considering the massive numbers D4 gets on twitch it is pretty impressive that Elon was able to live stream this on twitter with no hiccups last night. I'm guessing the D4 hardcore have already jumped to X to start streaming, as currently D4 has 400 viewers on twitch.
