a lot of Chinese that came from China in the 80s-90s do have this mindset. that cohort is disproportionately well educated; university education in China more or less rebooted in the late 70s after the Cultural Revolution and those who left the country often did so for graduate and post-graduate studies. as a result, this group was able to land in professional or academic careers and there's a lot of survivorship bias and confirmation bias.

it's not uniform by any means and the expats/immigrants I know with current family or friends in China are starting to see the cracks in the facade and are really displeased with the escalation between the US and China. the politics of this group are still pretty socially and economically conservative because of the aforementioned biases and privileges, so I can imagine that people who are less connected and assimilated more into groups in the US are closer to Cuban expats in political demeanor

Cities aren't ready for how much rubber they huff from ICE vehicles, and they've been doing that for over a century.

Clearly you don’t know what you’re talking about. ICE exhaust chemically bonds with rubber, rendering both the exhaust and the rubber inert and harmless. Without the ICE exhaust all of that rubber is just getting blasted into the environment where it causes any number of problems :eng101:

electric cars in city traffic often do wear the rubber harder because of the extreme torque plus stop and go conditions

Well, the pressure exerted on the road surface is the same pressure on the tires (and in the tires also) so the increase of weight increases the wear of everything to the fourth order

The ev tires get wider to maintain the ~same PSI so you don't notice as much

The kid who lives across the street from me just traded in his smaller older truck for a F750 Child Crusher edition. It doesn’t fit in his carport so I guess he’s just going to leave it in front of my house on the street forever.

My crazy neighbor has a bunch of "NO PARKING" and "ACTIVE DRIVEWAY" signs staked in front of her house. She'll go around knocking on everyone's doors if someone parks there. She had someone's car illegally towed once after the police wouldn't do anything about it.

Drivers think they own every bit of pavement that's ever been laid, this isn't a huge leap.

She has demolished the curb in front of her house and considers it her driveway. There is an actual driveway right next to it that she doesn't use.

It's hilarious when drivers here complain about how the traffic is bad. My dude, downtown is made up of two lane streets, one of which is used for parking and the other is constantly clogged by cars waiting to get in/out of the parking lane. How do you expect this setup to function, exactly?

Can't remove the on-street parking though, that's war on cars.

simply replace downtown with an open expanse of pavement sectioned into driving and parking areas as needed, then traffic will be great
