While the gif of Army of Darkness looked uprezzed to 48 or 60fps (it was shot on film at 24fps), high frame rate is generally a setting on your television that should be loving turned off forever. I can't walk through the televsion section of any store without wanting to puke.

I don't think I've yet to hear a single person speak in favor of the soap-opera effect in increasing the frame rate through interpolation. I wanted to show a friend the intro to Neon Genesis Evengelion but the one that looks and sounds the nicest has been hosed with so it also looks like 60 fps poo poo

Honestly I feel like some of the blocks and parries work better than movies with motion-tracked graphics. I remember thinking that poo poo was so old when I saw it in middle school Greek/Latin class, crazy to think another two decades have passed since.

That's all there is to it.

That said, interpolating a movie initially shot for 24 up to 60 often looks a bit fucky because part of editing is done with frame rate in mind, e.g. martial arts movies intentionally dropping frames to make impacts feel more abrupt and powerful. The Army of Darkness clip is extra egregious because part of the charm of the skeletons was their janky, abrupt movement, which is diluted a bunch by the interpolation.
