I was at the Halloween 2003 show as well -- Bile was definitely the only opener. There were signs indicating that Pig was also playing but they were just confusingly labeling how Raymond Watts was with KMFDM for the show. It could also be that I was an idiot who couldn't read at the time.

Good show, even if the guitarist from Bile looked very uncomfortable in the gimp suit.

I'm enjoying the mind.in.a.box that released today. I'd say they're in full prog territory though. Plan on sitting down for a 74 minute song with different movements :)

That is to say it's hard to recommend one or two tracks specifically to check out, but there's nothing bad here either. Just may not be for everyone.

I love it so much. My favorite parts are when the vocals have that 80s power ballad vibe. It's like some kind of cyberpunk Roxette.

And if you ever have the chance to see them live you should. When I saw FLA back in 2010 or so they were the opening act and I didn't expect much since everything about mind.in.a.box just screams "studio band". I was kinda expecting a laptop playing concert01final.flac and perhaps a drummer. But there was an actual band on stage and they did all those vocal manipulations live. I think the video below is from that same tour and I linked a part I really love.

My $75 counter was responded to with a $85 that I accepted.

I should maybe stop spending money on PiG merch? I've literally wanted this shirt for 25 years though, ever since my mom said gently caress no when I tried to buy it new at the Lakeshore Record Exchange for $50 1996-dollars.

The new OOMPH! album is really quite disappointing, unfortunately. After several listen-throughs it does not live up to the promise of its singles and I… kind of don’t get it

All three singles reach out to previous eras in OOMPH!’s considerably long history and update the sound with new production and of course the new singer. Wem die Stunde schlägt is like a GlaubeLiebeTod/Wahrheit oder Pflicht-era cut. Richter und Henker reaches out to their (in my opinion) best material in the Unrein/Plastik era with more melodic sensibilities. Nur ein Mensch has their most Defekt-like riff since, hell, Defekt, but marries it with modern production and the kind of vocals that Dero wouldn’t have done. They’re all really great stuff and I would love nothing more than for the album to sound more like ANY of them.

However, then the album falls into a completely unexplainable pit of nothingness for the rest of the album that I was afraid it might when I heard the completely unremarkable third track. Tracks 3 and 5-10 offer NOTHING in terms of good riffs, memorable hooks, cool production or catchy choruses, it’s all mediocre rockers with ho-hum ballady choruses, exactly like the previous albums with Dero. Es ist nichts, wie es scheint comes almost close to being almost interesting simply because at least it has some points with a bit of aggression to them. Wo die Angst gewinnt is, like, HEINOUSLY generic and could have been done by a any number of bands in existence. It sucks hard. This is the exact same trap that the last few albums fell into. It’s like these fuckers forgot how to write good songs after Des Wahnsinns fette Beute, and while Dero might have contributed, it certainly wasn’t only him who was dragging the albums down.

At the very end the album climbs back out of the absolute loving doldrums with Wut, which is a bizarrely wonky, almost unfinished-sounding track with a Joachim Witt feat that barely exists, but it all somehow works and seems like it might be stuck in my brain the most. And the closer Ein kleines bisschen Glück show that they can write a gorgeous, subtly produced midtempo track, and it’s really great.

I really don’t get how these guys have managed to write such a disappointing album AGAIN. Do they not notice that half of the album is just pretty loving shite compared to the singles? They must have, since the singles they put out are so far above most of the album, aside from the very end. They really should’ve left half of this album in the drawer and put out a killer EP. And none of it is Der Schulz’s fault as the new singer, it seems, unless he wrote all the poo poo tracks on the album

I ordered the CD single of The Blade a month ago and then didn't bother to open it since I had some more CDs coming and was going to rip them all at once. Open it today and see they sent me Mindphaser instead. Did a double take wondering if I ordered the wrong thing, but no, they sent the wrong Front Line single. A problem only the other three people on Earth buying CDs will ever have to worry about.

I'm on a roll with these god drat 90s industrial metal shirts

I bought this same shirt at the first concert I went to, in 1997 or so. I was looking around and found a couple on eBay for $80 and thought "gently caress no, for Watts, sure, but not for fuckin GK" but then googling the actual name of the shirt (based on the eBay listings) led me to, what seems to be, a loving t-shirt vendor that's got 25-30 year old stock. This was purchased as "new" for $18 and seems unworn, original tags, etc. They said they had two in stock and I tried to buy both; one was refunded as not actually being there.

For all I know, I have purchased the last ever, new-unworn Gravity Kills Down Arrow shirt

I'm really enjoying my best friend's FLA arc. They first went to the Live Wired tour when they were like 14, did not like the bad's direction after that, thought Bill was an arrogant jerk and lazy live. This continued until 2017 when we saw FLA, Cubanate and Revco and FLA was the weakest of the three. Then she passes on a role in the Rock Me Amadeus video but kind of wished she could have done it when we both liked the album. Then in 2019 we almost skipped Night 3 of Cold Waves because how could FLA touch CTec, Chemlab, Meat Beat, Ohgr, etc? Thankfully we went and thought they had a good set.

She still wasn't that psyched for FLA last year but we both wanted to see Rein, and we were both blown away by the FLA set.

Fast forward to this year's Cold Waves and after the show she texts me a picture of her holding an autographed vinyl of TNI saying how great the show was and how cool it was to get a signed copy.

They’re doing some With Sympathy songs on tour now.

Unfortunately they are “Modern Ministry With Sympathy songs.” I watched a live video for Revenge and it’s basically exactly what you expect it to be. Al made it sound like the band did a radical transformation of it, but, uh, it’s just Revenge with some guitars.

Yeah, that vocal effect in the new Ashbury song is what you do when you’re completely bored with music and just fuckin’ around with plug-ins. I can’t believe they released the track like that.

I had high hopes for Yaz returning, but I don’t think they’re into making the kind of music I’m interested in listening to anymore. I didn’t really like Victorian Wallflowers, either, and none of their singles and collaborations the past few years have really hooked me.

i know asking for "factory machine music" itt is kinda broad, but im looking for albums that sound very rhymic and mechanical, like a working factory. I love listening to youtube videos of reptitive factory noises and car engine sounds, but want something a little more musical.

Ive found stuff like Test Dept or Einsturzende a little too abstract and not consistently rhthymic, while stuff like EBM is a little too dancy.

Sorry if this is vague or difficult, Im having a hard time trying to describe what I'm looking for.

If you want something where a steady machine-like rhythm is the absolute focus then as long as you're down with distortion, my recs would be:

Hypnoskull https://ant-zen.bandcamp.com/album/the-manichaean-consciousness (his previous two releases - Immer Weider Nein and Die4 Generation are similar)
Greyhound https://greyhoundofficial.bandcamp.com/album/insomnia (all their releases sound pretty much the same, tbh)

Greyhound in particular - every track is pretty much just a steady rhythm with some textures that may evolve and shift slightly over the course of the track but they don't really do much more than that. They're great, if that's your thing.
