It's nearly noon and the IDF has made zero inroads in retaking the recently occupied territory. Everybody keeps saying that they would roll over Hamas and Gaza by the morning. I think most people in the west, regardless of what side they're on here, don't actually understand how the military situation on the ground has changed here. Everybody is assuming this is a spat and its going to be over soon. The narrative is that Hamas is just making a desperate but ultimately doomed attempt to score a PR win. Nobody seems to entertain the idea that maybe, just maybe Hamas has a plan for a military victory that they take seriously.

didn’t the IDF get its rear end kicked when it last fought a major military op in 2006 Lebanon? they have some pretty insane PR guys to keep up their image as super soldiers when all they’ve done since is play camp guard

I'm just lashing out a little bit but like, just how loving stupid do you have to be to look at the last 2 decades of anti-insurgency failures to think that because a war is asymmetric that the larger conventional power is guarantied to win the conflict? Hello, where is your object permanence? The IDF is not invincible, they can in fact lose a war. They can in fact be forced to the negotiating table through military failure and defeat. War is not just one people annihilating another, other outcomes are possible.
