Saw Jason Richardson / Dethklok / BabyMetal last night in Seattle. Was a pretty good show. Wife wasn't a fan of Dethklok imagery having never seen the show and the context behind it but BabyMetal "Metal with good vibes" was entertaining enough for her.

Jason Richardson is pretty talented but it wasn't the right venue for a solo act like his.

Dethklok owned of course, but you can definitely tell Brendon's voice has changed.

whats up with power metal being the genre that seems to be least likely on bandcamp?

is it because they're all signed to nuclear blast or what?

maybe they're all just all dinosaurs?

ever since reading the chatter in this thread ive been paying attention to what i can "hear" when my environment is otherwise silent. i go to a guided meditation class once or twice a week and really enjoy the room when it's silent and not having my tv/fan/air conditioner/fridge hum to muddy up the atmosphere.

in fact, the last session i did i felt like i could hear the fridge in the other room of the meditation center which was odd.

if there's any prominent/ever-present noise happening even during silence, it is *very* subtle. i also don't doubt that it can/will get worse if i continue to neglect my hearing. but i do try to keep the number consistent (or lower than normal if i can) when listening to music in the car or audio on my tv, etc.

but now come to think of it, every once in a while, all audio in my left ear sometimes just goes completely muffled for like 5 seconds completely out of nowhere. it always comes back but it is always extremely jarring and i'm always like "this is it.. this is me going deaf.. oh wait it's back" so yeah maybe i'm more hosed than i think lol

You should still start wearing ear plugs at shows or other loud environments.

Yeah I've noticed this too, no idea. Buying physical power metal is also always done on the sketchiest looking eurojank website

I use bandcamp email lists and RYM's new music feature and click sort by date, then scroll through looking for metal releases

Trip report from this week. Saw Blood Incantation / Gorguts / Mayhem / Cannibal Corpse at a Hard Rock Casino.

Blood Incantation: The real reason I ended up going. loving love these guys, and they did not disappoint. They played two songs and an instrumental over the half hour they were up there but it was amazing.

Gorguts: I'm honestly not that familiar with them. I checked them out a little more on Spotify before I went, thought they were kind of alright, but they were great live. I need to check them out again. I met Luc (the singer) afterwards as he was also manning their merch booth, chatted for a bit, got a picture and a signed CD.

Mayhem: I like their Die Mysteriis stuff, and they played some of it. Their other stuff is just so different sounding that it was kind of like seeing different bands. It was great to see them though.

Cannibal Corpse: I am going to flat out admit I'm not a huge fan of theirs. I think most of their stuff sounds the same and have just never gotten into them as a result. They're good live, though, and Corpsegrinder is a loving legend.

They've done a good job of not drawing attention to it. The only thing on Wikipedia is that they distanced themselves from nationalism and the source is from 2009.

Hearing damage isn't something you readily notice, it's subtle and creeps up on you like how people who ride in your car will wonder why you have the treble boosted all the way as it sounds perfectly normal to you as you can't really hear anything above 10kHz which doesn't affect the frequencies used in human speech.

I just cant do it man. Granted I dont work in a loud environment nor am in a rehearsing band. I probably go to 15-20 live performances a year to see stuff I like. I'm probably gonna use them when I go to stuff I'm not really excited about
