what's a little bit of incidental kinetic collision resulting in excess transfer of momentum momentarily exceeding habitable tolerance between friends anyways

The CDC should be tracking kinetic energy as a public health hazard.

Drunk walking is legitimately, on a per mile basis, several times as deadly as drunk driving, for the person who is drunk, because our streets are so hostile to pedestrians.

I bet you could walk through a house and kill a sleeping family if you tried. It doesn't seem that difficult.

State fairs still happen every year in most states, they suck and aren’t worth the effort, but it’s not like they’re not still a thing

The only true law is that which leads to freedom. There is no other.

the state fair is good but the county fairs are where it’s at. rodeos and pow wows ftw. infinite permutations on fried dough ftw.

Cycled to and from work yesterday (and today) despite it being cold and super windy, then when I got home walked to the local supermarket to pick up a few things. Felt super jazzed to just be out and moving myself where I needed to go even though I was tired as hell by the end of it, nothing like exercise and fresh air to improve your mood.

If only the supermarket was possible to easily and safely approach by foot, but unfortunately it was designed with the assumption that the only way you'd be going there is starting from the carpark.

the nearby development that I use as a bike path on weekdays recently installed a parking attendant's stand across their main entrance, along with a hump/speed bump on the exit side of the road so people can't just drive out of the lot at full clip

I used to double-back through the lot so the whole route is on asphalt, but with the speed bump in place it makes you lose all momentum to go through it, so now I do a full circuit around the area, which means going over their unpaved back-lot. It's muddy and a bit technical and sometimes I miss my MTB and its knobby tires, but getting down in the dirt is pretty fun and I get to practice fine control of the bike at low speed

no we need to make driving a car much more obviously dangerous like have sharp bits about eye level where if you brake too hard you get cut. people don't have a sense of the danger so you gotta spice up the vehicle a bit to make it seem more dangerous

Dangling seems unsafe, make them fixed to a pole in the ceiling. Also make sure you can't just yank them out.

No, I don't think hard braking will be a problem for long.
