Dumb question- if an Army soldier gains a Combat Infantry Badge, then transfers service to the Navy/Marines, on his new Navy/Marine uniforms does that turn into a CAR, or stay a CIB, or he just doesn't get to wear it? I saw that sailors or Marines that get awarded the CIB get to turn it into a CAR, but this is a case of someone earning it while a soldier and then later becoming a sailor/Marine

Yeah it's the above. There's former combat arms Seabees with CARs wandering around the NCF. Incidentally the guys I met left the NCF to go to ships and be real Sailors, a testament to the allure of The Sea (and how toxic and dumb the NCF is)

There's a guy in the unit down the hall that started Army and went Marines because he couldn't go on deployment often enough. Marines wouldn't keep him overseas enough, either, so he joined the Navy Reserve to just Keep Going On MOB with whatever seabee unit is going out now. He plans on retiring at 38 with so much money in the bank he'll never work again. Apparently being overseas from 18-38 doing Army/Marine/Seabee stuff is worth it.
