Yeah, that's the point they're making. All of the non-English versions localized the name to something that flows better, as opposed to "Speardovich" which is a direct translation. Yaridovich's character is that he is the spear dude, not that he is the offspring of a literal spear, there's no need to keep the slavic patronym if you've got a better pun
