Dead Money is the best of them, but after the first time it loses some of its charm.
Honest Hearts is decent, but I mostly remember it for the scenery
Old World Blues is very good but can drag a bit and its a little too over the top goofy at times
Lonesome Road was honestly kinda tedious and my least favorite of the DLCs, you're intended to play it last

I mean the characters are great but all of the mechanics - the cloud, the speakers, the ghost people, the holograms - yeesh. One time through is worth it, maybe.

the rpg mechanics don't really mesh well with the attempt at survival horror. there's not really any tension when your melee skill makes the basic melee weapon of the expansion the only thing you'll ever need, for instance. also not helping is that the game was bugged so that the ghost people inexplicably have incredible perception so that they will ALWAYS spot you when you sneak.

This is my take on Dead Money. Its fun the first time through, but honestly skip it on future playthroughs.

open world game story dlc sucks almost always. the nature of dlc clashes with the nature of an open world game. i feel like im just playing through someone's KPI targets. just give me things that expand the world, new vehicles, new items, new quests in locations that im already familiar with or to places off the beaten path

Blood & Wine was good because it was basically a sequel

This,

Dead Money is the weakest one, the mechanics are kind of tedious and from what I remember you don't really walk away with anything particularly cool for all the effort even if the story is interesting, still worth playing IMO

(That being said, I do wish more developers would try something totally different from the main game with their dlc like they did with Dead Money.)

Old World Blues is probably the second worst (Even if I do really like it.), the story is good especially the NPCs but the gameplay reminds me a bit of the lazier side missions in Saint's Row.

the casino allows you to break the economy even more than the base game allows.

lonesome road is definitely the worst one. just a lecture from some lame idiot spread out over what is basically a big hallway in a trash dump.
old world blues has some fun dialogue and set pieces
honest hearts is basically another by the numbers side quest
dead money has a cool story, adds new mechanics, and incorporates game mechanics into the story telling. helps if you've seen the movie treasure of the sierra madre, i guess

all of them should have included some crazy new guns. i think the best you get is a couple laser guns that do a ton of damage but basically look like all the other lasers. although how you top the grenade machine gun idk

I played New Vegas once before any of the DLC came out...bought the whole pack a while back on a steam sale, maybe it's time to fire it up

What's a fun build? Lasers sound fun.

The broad rule for NV dlc is everyone has one they love, two they're okay with, and one they hate. And it all tends to be different for everyone. (I like them all)

energy weapons are underpowered for a lot of the game but become the best weapons at the end. definitely viable but you may want to minor in explosives. melee kind of sucks in nv so I'd recommend against that
the most important thing is ya gotta get the wild wasteland trait

well if it's their first time playing it makes sense to me. plus you get the gun from the ufo though i suppose you don't really need energy weapons to make that gun better
