in the last 5 years we went from 1 fridge with about $40k of inventory (we had to destroy one time because someone accidentally left the door open over the thanksiving holiday) to 3 fridges with about $500k of inventory because of all the loving biologics, insulins and semaglutides and one of them is jam packed full of flu and rsv shots mostly

Alberta has a good answer for when "covid season" is. In case you can't view tweets, this says "The current [respiratory virus] season starts on August 27, 2023 and ends on August 24, 2024." https://twitter.com/GosiaGasperoPhD/status/1712579319879627006/photo/1 Chamale has issued a correction as of 09:29 on Oct 14, 2023 |

My crew rolled off a fire in Southern Oregon one morning and showed up on a Type 1 complex in Northern California that evening. Completed check-in, received our assignment for the next day and racked out. The next morning we showed up at briefing, trundled out to our division briefing and immediately knew we were in trouble when we saw 3 strike teams of city engines, complete with their crew in full turnouts/bunker gear and 3 other wildland rigs, a hand crew and a falling mod (sawyers) for the entire division. Now this would certainly make sense if the division was responsible for ANY amount of point protection (structures, inhabited or otherwise) but our entire division was chaparral and ponderosa pine, but I digress.

Nearing 24hrs after the Novavax shot and regret to inform you that it hosed me up pretty good! Chills, fever, body aches, pain in armpit, racing heart...basically everything the Moderna shots did to me, but slightly less intense. I will say that the symptoms seem to be going away faster and I'm about 75% back to normal. My wife is immunocompromised and only had light fatigue, WTF.

I wouldn't necessarily expect much difference in side effects.

I know the mRNA’s don’t actually make your body make spike proteins, they just tell affected cells to make the relevant sections of the spike protein along the cell membrane.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if people not wanting to see service/retail employees in masks was a big part of what drove the absolute plummet in voluntary mask usage. Without guidelines requiring or at least suggesting mask use in those settings, a lot of people had to give them up just to keep their jobs or tips. And once you stop using a mask in a high risk daily environment, why should you bother using it in lower risk places that you visit much less frequently?

I finally finished reading Immune and would highly recommend it to the thread, or anyone who wants a good layman's overview of the immune system. I knew the immune system was complex, but had no idea as to the scale of the complexity. Even now I think I've only glimpsed the barest corner of the mountain. It's a fascinating read. Now on to Necropolis.

Well sure, you wear masks to protect others, the government said so. If you've got a real serious mask on it's because you're real real sick. This makes perfect sense if you only know one thing

mawarannahr posted:it's kinda interesting how Island seems to lag everyone else... i could speculate as to why, but is this pattern persistent? Sorry I missed this earlier. I'm not terribly familiar with Island county but I'm assuming it's because it's pretty remote compared to the bigger cities like Seattle. I don't know if their spikes are something like tourism/summer events that bring more people in, if it's a super-shedder who goes there to visit every so often or what. The map's a little tricky since I had to screenshot it from the dashboard but this will hopefully provide some geographical context to where Oak Harbor and Coupeville are in relation to the others on the western half of Washington.
