I have my mechanist, and i swap a signet for flame kit, and bump 3rd trait in my second line from middle to top when doing dragonstorm. (then sometimes forget to change it back for days)

I can tell you the sheer disappointment when i enter a dragonstorm and realise im not on my engineer :/ it is a straight up chore. Whereas on engineer is mindless fun.

As for taking no damage at all in a dragonstorm, id love to see it. All it takes is helping to revive, getting knocked down, and then you might be asking for a res or running back yourself.

Again, this is completly mitigated by asking for someone with stability to party with you as a reaper.

But as someone who has done their first dragonstorm, reaper isnt a good class to do it on, so dont worry about running back a few times. Dont be afraid to ask to party with stab/heals. People will usually be happy to do it.

(and to be 100% pedantic, the bug where you die after hitting the beam at the elder dragons is 100% un-unavoidable, but that doesnt care what class your on)

yeah after like 2-3 goes so you know what to dodge and poo poo, you can easily do dragonstorm in full glass cannon gear and never go below half hp

Yeah, fair, I was ignoring that one.

I've done DS on reaper tons though (in full berserker's) and have not died apart from that bug. Not even come close.

The big aoe+movement attacks each boss does are basically perfectly timed for you to always have a dodge ready. It's a satisfying loop if you look for it!
Alternatively/additionally, bring a stun break skill like Spectral Armor.

Weird question, can anyone think of a heavy armour headpiece / appearance that can be applied to a heavy headpiece that looks like a cloth veil or face covering beyond the initial one or two revenant veils? One of the light pieces is the eyemask which I'm trying to replicate but..heavy.

Corsair Helmet is a Tuareg style cloth headwrap. Dragonscale Headress is similar but with a dragon mask attached. The new Rift Hunter helm from the SotO story is a mask that looks a bit like some light armor pieces. Those are all achievement rewards

You can also pick up a bandana tied around your face skin for like 40s on the the TP, Adventurer’s Scarf

Dragonstorm sucks arse as any class with no stability

Then it also sucks if you have no sustain.

Reaper unfortunately lacks both :/

Now, heading to dragonstorm as a flamethrower scapper means you can go afk and come back a few minutes later and still be not only alive, but probably still killing stuff.

reaper's primary stab source is shroud 3 and you can also take You Are All Weaklings! as a solid utility that's also a stunbreak

because there are always a billion mobs around in dragonstorm I also always take Chilled to the Bone! it deals a lot of damage in those cases and also turbobuffs you

My first legendary. The whole process went faster then I expected, chipping at it slowly here and there. What almost killed me was the Dragonstorm bith with its dragon response missions. Holy moly those are all the same and so boring. Do some events, escort someone, kill monster along the way/defend against waves of monsters, kill a boss. So boring. Glad I powered through it though!

Ok, weird question. Im picking the game back up after maybe two years off. I have my information saved on the patcher to get in to the game but I can't actually remember what it is.

Does anyone know if that's saved in like a .txt file somewhere so I dig up and actually write down this time?

Assuming you mean your password, no, that would not be stored in plaintext anywhere (that would be crazy insecure). But since you have your email address, just go to the website and do a https://account.arena.net/password-reset.

What's a good way to make a decent amount of money?

I've stumbled upon the cooking gourmet training and it seems to be quite expensive (probably 25 gold overall to complete?)

Daily fractals plus the 60 cheap keys has been enough for my number to keep going up pretty steadily.

There are as many ways to earn money in this game as there are stars in the sky, but one easy way to get weekly income if you haven't already is to complete the Arborstone Revitalization masteries and buy Antique Summoning Stones from the legendary vendor to re-sell on the TP.

Figured as much, issue with the email is that it was a one off created for GW2 and at some point Google turned on 2FA for it thing to a work phone I lost when I got laid off during Covid.

Maybe I'll just play for a bit without picking up the last two expansions and if I'm feeling it again ill pick up a new account during the holiday sales.

I'm one achievement away from my first legendary, the amulet. It's pretty awesome to be able to finally get one. As a part of getting all those achievements I'm done with all but the Xunlai Ingots part of Aurora, and about 2/3rds of the way through Vision. And then I bought SotO, so now I have a legendary starter kit.

So I'm about to be rolling in legendaries, except they all need lots of fractals and WvW that I haven't really touched. I don't have a consistent time I can play every week, but are there any groups that do intro to WvW? I know there are occasionally babby Fractal groups, and worst case I can always spend a ton of gold and buy the matrixes, but the Gift of Battle requires the WvW mastery track.

For Gift of Battle, just load up every XP/Reward track booster you can get and hang out on a map near the commander. Should be able to knock it out in about 3-4 hours. Occasionally there are bonus xp weekends so keep an eye out for those if you plan on farming multiple gifts (you will). The fractal stuff I just stick to T1 since I've never had the inclination to move up and I'm able to get the matrixes pretty easily still.

Ascended gear chests seem like a good play though I don't know if any of the ascended crafting materials / mystic forge stuff would be higher priority.

[fast] has some figures for gold per acclaim values: https://fast.farming-community.eu/conversions/astral-acclaim

Ascended boxes are ~5-9 silver per point depending on what you pick, just going by raw material crafting price, and apparently don't have any expansion stat sets.

Legendary thing, ascendeds are convenient if you can use them, cheap gold, coins, clovers if you need them, the mastery potions can be sold for gold, one of the crafting things. And then eventually the 30 acclaim gold.

ascended armor chests are great to use to get ascended shirts and skirts since those are the most costly and significant bits after the weapons

the other pieces give way less stats so they're not nearly as big of an upgrade per piece. i generally ignore them on any build i won't take into fractals where i want the infusion slots for agony

YOU CAN NOT BUST THE KRUST
Unfortunately, the game has become unstable, and it crashes randomly for me. For instance, I’ll be standing still in Arborstone, and the game will just crash to desktop. No big WvW battle, no giant squad or meta with 50+ players on screen, nothing which pushes the computer/graphics card to its limit - just a dude standing still near the bank triggers a crash. That’s bad. It reminded me of when I had a defective laptop (motherboard) and it would kernel panic and hard freeze. Thankfully, only Steam/GW2 is crashing, it doesn't hard freeze the whole PC.

I’ve saved a bunch of the detailed crash logs, and may post on the Anet forums for help. Or submit a ticket directly. Worth a shot I guess. I’ve tried too many different things, including totally reinstalling the game, repairing it, updating drivers, removing temp files, you name it. Stopped using BlishHUD/any add-ons, and I don't use ArcDPS.

Needless to say, I was pissed when I fully reinstalled the game, and it took hours to get it patched up, only to have it freeze and crash to desktop almost immediately.

At some point, it’s on Anet to fix their game and make it more stable. It’s silly that my friends with a 10 year old PC can run the game relatively fine, but my modern PC (with way beyond the system requirements) struggles.

I can run Cyberpunk 2077 at ultra settings at 60 fps and it looks amazing, so it isn’t the horsepower of my PC. It’s some kind of driver issue, or under the hood/stealthier, harder to identify problem. Sometime after GW2 upgraded its direct x version, and around the time of the Soto expansion, performance became worse. This stuff didn't happen 6 months ago.

Who decided that Wizard’s Tower should be the main hub for late game in Soto? That place takes, unironically, like 2 minutes to load, every time. It really sucks. Even on lowest settings (on a solid state drive) it’s still incredibly poor loading times. I appreciate the effort that went into Wizard's Tower looking regal and majestic, but the loading times and lag are kinda brutal. I wish the teleportation/waypoint hub was in a closed off area with fewer in-game assets to load.
